I got a $2 rusty particle collector dish and a load leveler.

Probably need to not use the full length of the chains. But, this is good. Getting somewhere now.

First order of the day was to find a good place to support the vehicle. Partway down the chassis turned out to not be a good place as the weight of the engine made it all flex.

20190216_132554.jpg
Engine mounts at the front undone.

20190216_135657.jpg
Crossbrace out.

20190216_135710.jpg
Moderately clean up underneath.

20190216_135755.jpg
Apart from at the back of the gearbox. There's spider webs.

20190216_135807.jpg
That there is probably still full of Regrettable Examples. Next up, get under there with a brush and a light and clear the way.

Also, another pair of hands and a couple more axle stands would be good. I have now remembered why working around a lowered car can be a pain.

It's less bad under here than I had thought.

Currently just cleaning the underbody. Last thing I want is a spider to decide to drop on me when I have nowhere to escape quickly.

About to pull the propshaft off the back flange so I can rotate it and get the Hardy-Spicer up front undone.

Marked the prop for location.

20190216_155853.jpg
Removed prop.

20190216_161406.jpg
Jacked front end of car. ATF starts pissing out the tailshaft.

20190216_163758.jpg
Test fit the crane and load leveler.

20190216_164056.jpg
It's taking the load. Now to undo the speedo drive and rear mounts.

love how big the engine looks in comparison to the gearbox, usually the gearbox is longer then the engine

it does remind me, I know the plan is to do up the gearbox, but do ya have any plans to do anything to the engine while its out of the car? :) (since I imagine access to various bits will be a lot easier)

I think I might take the head off, inspect the bores, check things, reset the tappets.

I might paint it the correct color too

Bloody hell that's big. Looks like it fell out of a warship. Is that gearbox actually small or does it look small as it's attached to such a long engine?

It's about the same size as a Borg-Warner 65.

It is merely dwarfed by the engine. Sitting on the floor it makes you say "damn, that's a big engine" every time you set eyes on it.

Pulled a piece of peeling paper off the side of the gearbox.

You don't get data plates like that any more! Looks like it's the original gearbox to the car, 51- stamped.

That's the overrider set mine should have. However, I prefer mine without, I think they make the front end too fussy.
