He just said to let him know in advance so he could fill up the 1300 gallon tank in anticipation of our arrival. Turn up throughout the day, buy some fuel and a 80 year old Mars bar from his shop - you will see what I mean when you get there! There is far, far more to Turnastone garage than just the filling station....... Totally informal, totally unorganised... turn up if you feel like it, I might not even bother to turn up if I don't feel like it! It's worth the long drive for the experience. Not far from a Mcdonalds if that's your bag, alternatively the old railway line is open to the public, there are plenty of public footpaths through fields you might set a deckchair in and benches to sit down and have a sandwich. Why overthink these events? Lets just go with the flow, buy a couple of gallons over the garden wall, see what other shite arrives, and have a bit of snap! Dippy Posted August 5, 2018 Share Posted August 5, 2018 I do love an old filling station and will hopefully visit this one if im ever in the area, unfortunatly its just too far for a day trip.I visited this one earlier in the year and couldnt believe in these days of health and safety they were allowed to pump fuel across a fairly busy road.
