Ohdearme
2 added for Flat4alfa No promises but inspired by seeing a well polished 190d on another thread I have wired a new plug on my DA sander to see if it works, last known used by the wife 2 years ago to sand floorboards also denies bending plug pins. Ohdearme
29 it is! I'm lucky in that I can always find an excuse to work from Manchester/London/Solihull (if forced) for a day and dispose of said vehicle in exchange for a lift to a train station. Ohdearme
Bump for new price...I’ll even wash it, save me from the horrors of Gumtree ‘best price mate?’
bramz7
i will have another, and help you out with a bump. Personally I think you calling it fucked is selling it wrong, there is many, many far more ruined ones on eBay etc, at least this one has test! Also, aren't the 2.0 TS engines pokey as heck? Ohdearme
Yes, to be fair I should probably rewrite it. There is nothing at all wrong with it except it is probably due a timing belt and there’s a knock on the suspension I’m fixing this weekend. I’m just being a bit too honest as don’t want to dick anyone over with it but it’s got test to run to May and has given every indication of making it there without any major problems. I shall probably up the ante with some nicer pics tomorrow seeing as gumtree is mainly yielding random number messages being fired at me.
Ohdearme
2.0 has about 150bhp and loves to rev, not a whole lot of torque but makes a great load of noise, combined with the stupidly quick steering rack, they are great fun on country roads thrashing around in the top of the revs. I paid £800 ten months ago and just need shot as no need for three cars. I floated the idea of keeping it with the missus today and she damn near stabbed me, I love it but she wants money for the kitchen, the witch. mrbenn
Ohdearme
Off she has sailed into the sunset for £375 to a discerning chap buying for his wife in a SAAB 9-3. I also found an unrelated wallet with no ID (not the buyers, I checked) containing £6.20 to add to kitty. Wife relieved, daughter giving last rights to donor vehicle before scrappers come. Please feel free to transfer your riddle numbers to the davenumbers mgroffle. Thanks all! The Moog, barefoot, Burnside and 2 others
flat4alfa
The UK used car market is mad I mean, here's a great driving, good looking car, that hasn't even hit 100k, with 10 months ticket; sold for bicycle money Even the cam belt roulette will bring daily excitement loserone and Burnside
flat4alfa
Apart from that, just 15% of this model are left in the UK In 2030 they will be worth plenty. Because Alfa. Burnside and SiC
Burnside
Glad you got this sold ok, as it stopped me thinking about it! Just typical the bargains always show up when the funds are low. At that money and mileage there plenty of scope left to maintain it and keep it going for a long time yet. Did it sell via here? I think personally that the 147 design has aged really well and I think one of these or a 156, 166 are a car I will one day have to try for myself before they get out of reach. Ohdearme
It sold to a local near me via Gumtree, it was a giveaway price really. I also think they will pick up in value as their already scarce numbers die out (I killed another one for the donor that could realistically have been saved if I’d wanted to spend another £500 and three months of effort). I think the facelift versions are a more attractive bet and they had reworked suspension, some with a Q2 diff too. I underpriced mine as it wasn’t mint and didn’t want any comeback but it was still perfectly serviceable. I bought it in a rush from a dealer as I needed a car that weekend and I wanted a 147 so just took it, warts and all. As much as I gradually end up improving my cars through their ownership, it wasn’t worth the effort to ‘mintify’ this one as there were too many minor blemishes that jus add up to not being worth it (car park dings, faded exterior plastics, small bit of roof lacquer peel, stuck oil sump plug, etc.) so I just priced it so it would keep on going and not get scrapped. Compared to most things out there for the money, they’re different, reliable (yes really) and great fun drive. If the dog or wife ever get run over, I’d get another in a heartbeat. It joins the list of only four other cars (from about 35) that I’ve genuinely been sad to see go. Those were,E39 540Fiat Barchetta (I was so upset, I bought another)Galant VR-4and now the 2.0 147. Trivia, apparently the Fiat 1.8 in the Barchetta/HGT and twin spark share the same bottom end more or less, with Alfa popping a twin spark head on, would explain how the first time I drove it, I felt like I was back in a Barchetta through the pedals. sporty-shite and flat4alfa
