outlaw118
Outlaw_Nephew was mulling over what to get as his next vehicle and I suggested one of these as they're as cheap as chips at the mo, and with a bit of luck he won't lose anything on it. Alerted him to the estate above, and he's been online for an insurance quote. He's 18 and a half, passed his test 2 weeks after his 17th Birthday in February 2017. They valued the car at £190........ Go on, have a guess..... No, more than that..... Double it...... £4976.87 No idea which website that was..... egg
320touring
They were weighty old beasts those first ST’s and that Mondeo engine was never going to be a revvy, exciting motor like a TU5JP4 or whatever went in the Clio 172 etc.The Clio 172 has an F4R engine, same as a 2.0 Laguna 2, Mégane etc. Just turned up and fettled a bit;) dougiefourspeed
Captain Furious
Ford have always had an annoying habit of gearing their cars way too high which takes all the 'zingyness' out that you got from rival French hot hatches. It made them a lot more civilised at speed but really blunted the acceleration low down. Back in the day of the Mk5 Escort they did two variants of the XR3i, the 105PS and the 130PS. Apart from an extra 25BHP the 130 also got the MTX75 gearbox which had MUCH more favourable ratios and really made a huge difference to how nippy it felt. The 105 was a real doctors waiting room in comparison.

Not so civilised but it doesn't half shift down low. She says her Mk1 1.6 Focus was at much lower revs at 70mph, but I never went in that so wasn't able to note it. New POD
I have started to have dark thoughts about ST170s now, and have several in my watch list. Whilst i am happy with my over weight Auto Omega. I really would also like an St170. do they have cruise control as standard. I do too many miles on the motorway to not have that one feature.
