Lacquer Peel
Controversial opinion: I don't think the 2.1 XUD has enough grunt to move the 605 around adequately. You can soup them up easily enough with a socket set, then you'll be chasing Veyrons and Koenigseggs. nacho man and alcyonecorporation
alcyonecorporation
NO SMOKE NO POKE (115 bhp from 110). nacho man
alcyonecorporation
Can you imagine if this engine was fitted to an XM???????? You'd destroy everything that tried to take you on, even if they weren't aware you were racing them. If the internet is right (and it always is), you'd place on pole for this year's British GP. carlo
Controversial opinion: I don't think the 2.1 XUD has enough grunt to move the 605 around adequately. Controversial but true. And you should try the auto... When I first had one as a dealer demo I set off in Drive and nothing actually happened. Eventually it moved. alcyonecorporation
Lacquer Peel
I still want to try a Xantia 1.9D auto. alcyonecorporation
bramz7
I thought my 605 was decent enough speed wise until I got in the 164....yeah the auto isn't that rapid. Decent enough in the 406 though.
Kringle
Do you think maybe it was intended to be leisurely? Interesting fact #1: Development cost of the 605 was £500. Actually it was £500 million. Interesting fact #2: 72% of the metal used in the car is either zinc coated or galvanized.
alcyonecorporation
There's difference between slow and leisurely. I wasn't expecting fireworks but the way the XUD is venerated on here (and for its time, it was exceptional) you'd think some people had a Q-car on their hands. carlo
I think it was the auto that was the problem, Peugeot didn't introduce another diesel automatic until 2002 with the 406, whereas Citroen seemed to be quite a fan of them. Do like that early 605 trim though. I've got one of those steering wheels in my 405.
bramz7
Price dropped to £700. And then it sold. Huh. Wonder who bought that then?!!! davehedgehog31, RobT, Lacquer Peel and 2 others
Kringle
Shame I missed that one, I had an eBay bid in action and was waiting for the result before enquiring, as they say you snooze you lose! Are you the lucky fella Bramz?
bramz7
I am indeed. I shouldn't have sold my old 605 but the auto and leather put me off it. This being velour and a manual is far better. CGSB, Kringle and Lacquer Peel
Kringle
So your place is looking pretty busy with this, the 164 and the 21!
bramz7
164 will be gone by the time this arrives I hope. But the 21 will be a fine companion.
