Mondeo hunting

Going tonight to look at a pair of Mondeo, both Ford main dealer part exes.

Diesel Ghia X estate, has everything, 137k, recent clutch and DMF, supposedly no flashing lights pulls well £700

1.8 petrol base, 56 plate, less miles but these can be prone to the rings going. £850

I'll report back. Possible leaning to diesel estate. If it blows up in 12 months I should see half that back breaking it.

Yeah it was a bit on the high side but all the others I've seen at £5-600 were absolute nails, looks quite tidy though so it will just depend which sounds alright for the money.

I'd seen a 58 plate Vectra 1.8 for £650 but I'm going to leave it a while before I get really desperate :)

Yes the clutches are expensive. I'm acutely aware of that...

Bought it. Rust free 2001 Verona in Silver on a Y plate for late registration madness. Absolutely immaculate, inside and out. Even got original radio cassette and motorcraft battery. 85k but clutch felt fine, nice and light no judder. Gave £450 on it. Pick it up later in week.

But has it got the 'must have' factory option of gaffa tape on the rear bumper? :-D

No. They are complete. No big fuck off gaffa tape creations yet.

Its had the sills repaired at the back however the guy who had it was a professional welder, so they've been done properly and blended in. Its not some patch put on by some MOT station. Probably better I guess as they all go there so the repair might outlast the car.

I was given a tatty Verona a couple of years back, it was a good runner but tatty as fuck. After doing an engine service and recommending it needed a belt change at 100k, she spoke to her dad and he bought her another car and she asked if I would keep the car to cover the oil and filter cost....

She was not interested in it at all even though the bill was only about £60 and dropped the keys & V5 the following day, all smiley as she had a shiny Pug 307 already to run into the ground, god bless parents!....I sold the mondy on for £500!

I really like them...Top buying skillz

Well, I've got the dilemma of whether to waxoyl the arches and ensure their survival or to polish them in the hope that they remain rust free. Its getting used daily in all weather so it'll be a thorough Waxoyl in all probability. Could buy the tools and DIY the timing belt but my MOT man would do it for £100 labour inc the pump. So for the pissing about I'll leave it to him. Its not an especially difficult job but at the moment time is at a premium.
