sierraman
Any experience of insuring a CAT N write off? Are the premiums expensive? Not bothered about pay out values as were talking old bangers here.
garbaldy
Makes absolutely no difference to the few I've insured.
sierraman
OK I had H&S nightmares of insurers going its a death trap cause the wing got a bit bent 2 years ago.
PiperCub
As I understand it, Cat N is equivilent to the old Cat D??? (Is this right?). If so, the couple of Cat D's I've had, I've had no issues at all insuring them, I don't think they give a shit but suspect any payout would be less than a non-Cat vehicle but that doesn't matter for a cheapo. SiC
When my Civic was written off to a cat N, Direct line just told me that I needed a fresh MOT after repair. Until that point, it would only be covered third party. After MOT they'd cover it fully comp. In-laws now have it and they insured it themselves no problem. flat4alfa
Is this Direct Line thing across the board though? Got cat N 6 months ago with none of this re-MOT talk
The Old Bloke Next Door
Is this Direct Line thing across the board though? Got cat N 6 months ago with none of this re-MOT talkProbably depends on the insurance company, when Sheila's Wheels wrote off my daughters Focus as a Cat C we had it back with a reduced payout and I repaired it,However they insisted on a new mot before they would continue the insurance to its end date. That was five years ago though, so terms may be different now.
