busmansholiday
Nothing wrong with Donny that a trip across the A635 cannot cure. Sadly I've too many cars in bits to be able to buy the DAF.
artdjones
Maybe do the front brakes, give it a service and then try again (with a higher price). It would be a better proposition if it could be driven away. Tamworthbay
DodgyBastard
Cheapest quote so far for having this transported to me has been £389, if the car was local I'd be all over it but the distance isn't helping unfortunately. purplebargeken
Instantly roadworthy will help with getting it moved and as mentioned, at a better price I think.
Sigmund Fraud
There is far, far more to making the Kombi "roadworthy" than doing the brakes. As I've already explained, it's a project car, and should be treated as such. Unlike any other 1970s car available for that price, it does not require a full restoration. But it does require work ! Brakes and tyres are essential, unless you have a death wish. But due to the sheer amount of time it's been in storage, it's likely to require plenty of de-snagging before it's dependable. I have neither the time nor the will to do any more work on it. Jim Bell
SiC
Unlike any other 1970s car available for that price, it does not require a full restoration. For reference, I paid the same (admittedly including transporting) for the 1100. This looks like it needs far less work and time as it's in much better condition. Basically this is a bargain. Kringle
Can I have your full postcode for a collection quote ?Slight side topic but who do you guys use? Shiply quoted 64 quid for a car from Salisbury to westbury, does that sound good? I've never used a delivery firm before.
Sigmund Fraud
Slight side topic but who do you guys use? Shiply quoted 64 quid for a car from Salisbury to westbury, does that sound good? I've never used a delivery firm before. People around here seem to ask for £1.5 per mile. In my experience, reliability is far more important than price when it comes to car transport companies ! Nowadays, I prefer to A-frame lightweight stuff, or rent a beavertail for heavier (or completely unroadworthy) stuff. Kringle
So I should be looking at 41 quid. Hmm, thank you Sir.

HillmanImp
I think my transporter chap is maybe doing me over, I might have to see about getting other quotes. I've used him for years but have never thought about looking elsewhere. I paid £75 to move the Imp 12 miles a couple of months ago.......
drum
Cost me £340 to get a lwb Land Rover transported 470 miles. That was a Shipley quote.
Kringle
I suppose the longer the distance the cheaper per mile, local stuff must have a minimun cost. Cheapest is now 52 quid which is cheaper than an mot test booking and a days insurance. HillmanImp
