Panda Alessi: The Pandarin

Aston Martin

Recommended Posts

They're 90 euros a pop and 22 euros shipping each.

Which is £180-ish with shipping. I assume they're charging me for one shipping?

He's replied 80 euros a pop plus shipping.

£165 for both delivered.

I don't need them and it's a bit rich and I really don't need them.

I don't know if you saw them but there were a pair of Cross rear lights for sale on the facebook UK Panda 4x4 page back in June but they were offered at £150 so not much different unless you could enter into a negotiation? Seems like the Italian guy is on the money?

I hate this place, messaged the UK one, still for sale but slightly damaged. (Repairable/replacable part)

I guess I’ve just bought them and for a decent price too. :(

Here's the damaged part, you can get it from Fiat for about £60 I believe. Or I can attempt to bodge it for now... I'm thinking an epoxy glue and try to shape for the Plasti dip, just to see if I want them fully orange or not.

If I want to leave them standard then I'll get the proper replacement part, I didn't realise that these were like a grainy grey metallic colour.

Anyway, also on the 'eventual agenda'

The RHD cars obviously have the indicator/reverse light on the left and the LHD cars have the indicator/reverse light on the right.

I would like to have indicator/reverse on the left and on the right. Which makes it symmetrical and keeps with the orange and white theme. I've stripped mine and the lights and connectors are identical. All I'd have to do is fit a red fog light bulb to be legal.

I'll plug my left into the right and see what happens. Will the fog light, activate the "reverse light"? I think it could as the wiring is exactly the same on both sides as is the connector.

Is it possible to swap the lenses out?  That way you get two clear lenses but with the original wiring so it would operate fog and reverse as normal.

I've ordered a complete LHD reverse one from Italy. We'll see how it goes.

....

Today has been semi-disasterous. The transparent vinyl wasn't transparent enough. The normal vinyl was too thin, I freehand cut a rectangle. Which is why it looks raggy. But the issue is the orange is the wrong shade. So I yanked it off.

Speaking of the wrong shade, the mats are a different orange.

I've posted a pic of the "best" plastidip light. I've ordered another can, I actually think I'd like them properly sprayed orange when I get the bodywork done. Rather than keep them stock.

I drove it around the corner with the new tyres and MOT. I forgot how close the pedals are on these.

  • 1 month later...

Because I'm an idiot and I can't sleep.

I'm still having dreams about a Skydome. Which only happened on Japanese Alessi and normal Panpans.

Upullit has a Panpan with a Skydome ready for raping, so I might have a look on Sunday. I need to get For Fiat Sake to check the Haynes manual. But I'd say this was just 4 bolts? Unless you have to remove the glass which would be a ball ache and too much hassle for me to do. But it would also be cheaper than the respray the roof needs.

This guy is selling the front part and you can just about make out the four boltholes that fit into the larger frame.

The rear is fixed and the front tilts and slides, the bit above the windscreen is just black vinyl.

I''ve just had a look at the Haynes and think it would be fair to say I've written more on the subject on Quantum Physics.

"Removal of the roof first requires the headlining to be removed, which is a complex and tedious operation, and not a task to be undertaken lightly".

Seems a bit defeatist to me.....

I suspect the front bit will be bolt on and the rear is probably sealed to the car. Shouldn't be too difficult to get off with one of those tools with wire and a handle at each end, surely.

I've briefly looked in the manual in the past and it's fairly pointless.

I've messaged him, but I'll also pop to upullit tomorrow and to save time I'll just Stanley knife the roof lining off to have a look.

Be a good practice for getting yours out properly as well .

I'm still searching for a Sigma in a breakers , I found one a while back and the advert said new arrival, had been driven in the day before, phoned them , they assured me all parts still available, went down within 48 hours and they had fkin trashed it apart from a few parts , I was fuming , 120 mile round trip for nothing , that's why car become unobtainium, slashers and trashers .

Best of luck with the roof

I'm popping this here as it's by Alessi and it's the right colour.

It's shit though. Salt and pepper holders that are magnetic and attach to the wire. And then pull it over under the weight of the salt/pepper. Contents also gently trickle out of the bottom hole too, as it's on the side when fixed to the wire.

I'm sure Alessi was better at restyling small FIATS so I reckon you'll be fine!
