NOW SOLD - to Max's bessie mate, after I've advertised it and cleaned it within an inch of it's life, he never even saw the beautified product of my labours ! Bah, hey ho, it's a great car and will do him a great turn for sure ;)

As many of you will know, I am mates with a chap called Max who has many fine examples of shite in his fleet, but this is not one of them!

It belongs to a friend of his who is happy with both modernz and BL chod, who has a house in the South of France - he bought this Volvo to move stuff there, which it has done, and is now for sale - he is an engineer and is based in Indonesia or somewhere very far away and inconvenient, so it has landed on my lap to sell on for him :)

I would have it in a flash if it were an auto, but it's not :(

I am collecting it this afternoon when I drop my Rover 75 off with Max, and so will get all the details and some pics for drooling upon and over - so far I know it is a V70 in silver, estate, towbar, petrol ( I am pretty sure), and mechanically sound, and looks cosmetically reasonable, with a price of around £950 - long MOT.

I am led to believe this year and model etc are pretty speshul for Volvo lickers (2002 I think), so watch this space for some actual facts ;)

If you fancy an S type you could bring the 75 my way instead ;)

Here we have some dirty, dirty, photos!!

I am rather embarrassed by the state of this car and will be throwing a jet wash at it, with a vacuum cleaning and internal scrubbing session in the next couple of days, with a decent report of the driving ness and so on as I see it :)

It did feel nice the quarter of a mile I just drove it, max says he's done Edinburgh and back recently and preferred his Mini van, but he's quite, quite insane so his opinion doesn't count ;)

ooooh I've wanted an S type for several years, I will let you know when the rover passes the retest :)

need to put it past Our Lass, turns out she is *fed up* of me throwing shite cars at her without her say-so! (this system has been working exceptionally well up to press, so she wants to apply a deep lack of automotive knowledge and appreciation to *improve it, WCPGW??) ;)

I managed to throw not one, not two, but three buckets of soapy water on this fine steed this morning as a surveyor was looking over my house :)

I haven't driven it anywhere today, but it has come up a lot better than yesterday, thank fuck! I still need to vacuum and polish the interior, but it is by no means minging, I just hate getting a new car and leaving it alone, that's Our Lass' job ;)

The faults so far I am aware of are -

the aircon didn't blow cold in the very short journey yesterday, this may change, but I doubt it!

Apparently the central locking sometimes doesn't do all the locks, intermittently, so Neil the owner uses the old fashioned key in door method.

There is a smoll scallop/chip in the windscreen, on the passenger's side, only noticed whilst washing it close up.

The handbrake is not great on my steep driveway, but I am led to believe they all do that (sir).

|Couple of scrapes and scratches as per age etc, bit of a scrape passenger rear light and quarter, nowt terrible really.

Everything else seems pretty much spot on and rather solid feeling, engine, clutch and box seem sweet, the leather looks unmarked mostly from cursory inspection, will know more when I get stuck in to the valeting :)

It's in Leeds by the way, usual shiter's courtesy buying collections and so on applicable, this does seem like a workhorse you could put to the job immediately no fuss, shame it's the rong box for me and the Missus!

The handbrakes genuinely do all that on Volvos sir. The S60 with handbrake on full has it pointing at the ceiling, and even then the car rolls backwards before groaning to a halt.

2.4 20v naturally aspirated engine is one of those that will be powering Swedish barges around in 15-20 years time when these are absolute classics in a world of high pressure turbo'ed pillar-box glassed crossovers.

Thoroughly recommended, will take you to the edge of the world and proof the Flat Earth Society correct and back no worries.

Today I are mostly been vacuuming and wiping down with a damp, soapy cloth, and replenishing the screenwash which was CRITICALLY LOW.

In the pursuit of this, I have discovered further proof that the Swedes are bloody ingenious, practical people, well done all concerned :)

The load bay is a thing of much beauty and substance, seats fold flat with no fussing and fighting, it has some weird netting cover which I am sure is invaluable, and it all feels like it will take more abuse than I can throw at it, and believe me I've done some daft shit in motor vehicles!

here are pictures for funsters -

More netting, can't have enough IMHO.

I have discovered the paperwork is in the glove compartment, and left it there as I can't be arsed doing any more today, what with an epic sale of Pug going on soon, so I will update tomorrow or sometime, as usual if you are interested, let me know, deals may be struck etc and so on :)

I have been a busy boy this morning, and listed the Volvo on the bay - I have upped the price to the general public to allow for haggling so please do not be alarmed by this :)

I am quite enjoying blarting around in this barge, it is tough as nails and cavernous, just the job for moving daughter into her new flat :)

I've started looking at automatic one's on the bay, but Our Lass has stated she will never drive one - she seems to have developed a deep dislike of estates, which is a complete arse as I need a vehicle with load space aplenty for my daily mucking around, hey ho, what can you do? :)

Tell her to buy her own car? :P

I have insinuated that she should get on autotrader, put in a search of £500 max, with automatic, and tell me what she likes, instead of what she does not like (that list seems unreasonably large nowadays), however she is steadfast in putting this responsibility on my shoulders, and seeing as she earns the proper money I have to suck it up!

In the meantime she gets the Rover 75, and can lump it (not exactly a hardship mind!)  :)
