gtd2000
I just replaced the O/S track/tie rod end on my daily and notice the steering is slightly pulling to the right...to be expected really I suppose. I tried my best to get the new one on identically to the old one but obviously this didn't quite work out I'm not getting any tyre scrub so far (been a 1000 miles at least including a trip back to the UK last weekend) so I'm not worried about fucking the tyres up. Any ideas - I've never had/needed an alignment done before - they want 60 fucking Euros over here in Ripoff land (AKA Netherlands)
Betaphile
The cost of being an idiot really has gone up massively recently. In a prime piece of epically dumb-arsed driving I thumped both right-hand wheels on a roundabout kerb recently and stuck the alignment out noticeably. Took it down to the local tyre centre who sorted it out (needed to be told - as absolutely every alignment place I've ever been to does - that the rear suspension on a Beta needs doing too because, gasp, it's independent). That'll be A$90, thanks.
gtd2000
Aligning the front wheels is a piece of piss really - it's just getting the correct adjustment that's the problem... How about this for a DIY alignment?
Andrew353w
Local S.T.S. in Barnet does the lot for £30, all in! AND they let you have a mosey under the car while it's up on the ramp to see how things are doing at the same time! Good bunch of mechanics!Andrew353w
Guest
Tyre Spot (a local chain) and National Tyres charge £20-£25 for laser front alignment. A local boy racer outfit charges £50 for a full 4 wheel alignment (trade).
Guest Tony Hayers
Ever thought about one of these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WHEEL-ALIGNMENT-G ... 7C294%3A50 Ive thought about these a few times but have never had any experience of one. A empty supermarket carpark is the best place to use it as apparently you roll the car over it to get a reading, make adjustments, roll over again to check its correct and then start on the other side. I find ATS in Gala to be the best around here, charge me £20 a pop and they let you get under the car as well I'm back home this weekend (flying) but had ATS in mind when I bring the car back over. I'll probably be passing your way at some point during the weekend to visit my mate Keith down in Newtown - so If you see a silver '04 Picanto whizzing by, that'll be me! I'm pretty sure they'd laugh at you in Holland if you suggested paying the equivalent of 20 quid for an alignment Mind you I'm happy for it to be proven otherwise, if any of the Dutch lads know better? To give you an idea about Holland these days.. I took the car to London last weekend - a place I've always found over-priced. By comparison it was cheap and unusually cheerful - barking I know (not the town either!).
