ShiteRider
Long time no post.Got both cars back to work okay, but then was to busy to do anything with them for a couple of weeks. So last weekend I did some basic checks on Rocky (the blue one) and chucked it at an MOT and hoped for the best... it failed but only on three things.1: Front washers, which turned out to be cruddy four year old water in the bottle.2: Front brakes imbalance across the axle, I know I was like WTF as well. I think what was meant was difference in effort between front and back.3:Excess emissions, fresh fuel and quick rag around felt like it helped.Long story short, me and my wobbly warhorse are tearing up the tarmac of lancashire RayMK, theshadow, Lacquer Peel and 13 others

If it is, what does the centre badge look like? The way the warning lights look like they've been fitted with a catapult is a definite reminder, this ain't no Maybach. plasticvandan
No 1,3 wheelers are exempt from emissions test.No 2 yes that is the correct Astrali wheel fitted only to the mk3 Robin.the centre badge is black with the Reliant eagle logo,I believe partsworld may have listed them on ebay.edit: type reliant astrali on ebay, reliant have them for £3.99No 3 the gasket set is for the 747 cc sidevalve regal engine,so no use to yours. It's looking well,I am desperate to own another soon,I've had 36 but not for the last 5 years,I'm getting serious withdrawal symptoms to the extent i swear it has changed my personality! oldcars, ShiteRider and Squire_Dawson
ShiteRider
Spare donkey too, was taken out of another car due to a leaking rear core plug which killed the starter. Has supposedly had some rings removed to use in another engine? Sounds like a weird thing to do imho, I mean why not just buy new and why go to effort of putting the engine back together? Doesn't look like it's been apart, who knows. The numbers mean anything to anyone? Coprolalia and Squire_Dawson
ShiteRider
Cool plasticvanmans here. I didn't about the emissions, i've never had a class 3 test done before, the place that did it was Kalus' in Blackburn. When I first went there he seemed knowledgeable about reliants, he said he used to do a lot of work for the local agents (name escapes me now) and still had the reamers for fitting kingpins etc.Emissions were 7·5%, he says he's got it down to 2·5%. All I know is now it feels like it's holding back and pinks like a bastard uphill. I hoping he's just tweaked the dizzy a little and not been fucking about with the carb. ShiteRider
Slightly less detritus in this one. These seat covers are the itchist things ever. Kept the seats mint though, is that my imagination or is that ford escort/sierra fabric circa late 80s.30k on this bad boy, a different dash layout to the other car...and yet it's the same basic dash panel. ShiteRider
Chevette gear knob? Insulation in this bonnet, is the blue one a reliant project drive jobby or just a super light weight stradale version.More oil tight than t'other bugger. I'm hoping this gunky crap is because it's not been run for 5 years and not omnomnom hgf. I got this on the understanding the engine was fucked, told the oil light was on and it's clattering from the bottom end.A new pressure switch sorted the oil light, noise is a combination of a blowing manifold joint and tappets that need setting. Now I have had it running, albeit briefly but now it'll only run with a slow tickover with the accelerator mashed in the carpet. I've stripped and cleaned the carb, and set the previously non existent points gap so next it's condenser and check the fuel pump (which does look damp were the two halves screw together). Anything else obvious I should be looking for, all the electrical side looks new ie; plugs leads rotor cap condenser etc Split_Pin, oldcars, Squire_Dawson and 2 others

Stroller133
I think that dash moulding originated from the launch of the Robin in 1974? The late one in my opinion looks more hashed up and the earlier ones looks more “right”. I also think that dash looks quite modern for a mid 70s car. ShiteRider
Theres a guy down redfern street near the strand in bootle who breaks robins too.DW classics (Danny Wilson) I dealt with him a few times years ago when he just broke Fords, he seemed okay. But i'm a terrible judge of character and he might be a right bandit.
plasticvandan
The dash originates from 1973,used until 2001. If you look underneath the newer cars dash, you will see the cutouts from the old twin dial set! Cost and type approval being the reason.it was a way of making what was a 30 year old design look different. oldcars
