Rover 216 Cabriolet - MoT April 2019 - SOLD

Well, that's been an interesting month. May finally be a light at the end of the tunnel in terms of actual life.

That does mean some things taken on not that long ago aren't going to fit!

So - pictures and details to follow, but it's the ex-Kiltox, ex-Six-Cylinder Rover 216 Cabriolet. Since MoT it's done probably 100 miles or so, I've had two opportunities to drive it; it works very nicely, but I'm likely to move somewhere with no car space and time is already at a premium.

If you buy or win this fine automobile, it can be collected by making your way to a farm near Lutterworth, J20 of the M1, or a train station such as Market Harborough. I am kinda busy (hence selling it) but will do what I can to make it easy :)

Important things:

Roof and back window in good condition.
Starts well, spot of blue smoke if undriven for a long time but clears up.

Nice to drive.

87,000 miles.

Has MoT until April 2019.

Radiator fan cuts in properly.

Heater works.

Comes with some spare keys because the boot is the kind you can lock keys in.

Both rear seats unlatch, fold, latch.

Both front seats unlatch.

Windows wind up/down properly - a bit sluggish.

Remote works.

CD changer works, electric antenna works. Actually, I don't think I found anything that doesn't work, a couple of segments missing on the LCD for the radio.

Some paperwork, spare tyre, tools.

Worst things - a few dents, more from storage I'm guessing, and spots of rust on rear arches (feels generally solid though), some wear on driver's seat bolster foam, nearside rear tyre loses air despite looking healthy, and the roof cover sheds yellow crap if you fit it.

Price should be compellingly cheap for a cabriolet at this time of year!

If a Roffle is swift, I'll do it.

TBH I really wish I had the time to enjoy it, but it was acquired with one set of plans in mind, and then those plans were seriously bad for me; met someone who has completely changed my perspective and view of the world and started looking forward, not back - but that means simplifying everything.

Car's near Lutterworth, I'm mostly near Solihull at the moment, hence the lack of pics and so forth. Interior is a little cleaner, but not significantly so :) - haven't had a lot of time.

Will update this with pictures this week and be more on the ball with it, haven't been at the farm much.

Twingo is unlikely to be roffled, it'd be very expensive per ticket!

Some pictures...

I'm near J20 of the M1 towards Market Harborough if anyone wants to plot collection - can pick up from MH train station. Work is exhausting right now as I'm commuting from Solihull to Peterborough a lot of the time; am about this weekend though.

Mixed feelings about parting with it so quickly, because it feels very much like I hoped - an '80s convertible really. With the truck on lease and a new company car too though (right now, a V40, it changes in June to something I chose I hope though I really like the Volvo) there is literally no time or space for anything else.

Fucking hell that is cheap. Plenty of test on it as well. I'd be all over that like a bad rash if I wasnt saddled with cars at the moment.

What's it like mechanically?

Not bad - drives well, pulls well, little bit of blue smoke if it's not been used for a while, clears quickly.

I'm unlikely to do a roffle on this - it's cheap and i don't want to mess about!

That is lovely and the want is strong, but I really cannot justify buying a cab right now, esp with not having a garage to keep it out of sight of the local hoodlums. It'd get slashed within about 2 mins of me parking up, sadly.

Shame, as it looks splendiferous.

Mind you if it goes to a roffle I'm sure I could think of some stupid excuse to buy a ticket or two.

EDIT - missed your last post Richard, my dream bubble has been burst, rightly so.

Hope this stays in the fold, as I'm sure I will get a garage at some point in time.
