St. George Rally

Today we participated in the LAC St. George's Day Rally. Conrad graciously stepped into the breach as navigator. This year's rally followed the Lancashire witches and I'm sure we saw some today or at least they could've passed for witches.

So these were taken after finishing, which we did in one piece with a few minor hiccups.

And if we got lost or couldn't fathom the route instructions we could always get back on course by following the trail of oil.

The engine drank a few gallons of petrol and overall it averaged 23 omg mpg.

Interesting.Am I the only one who prefers MK2 Jaguars with their wire wheels painted in body colour?

I concur, we discussed this and concluded it made a refreshing change to chromed spokes. I thought they were black but closer inspection showed up the bottle green.

That was a fun trip! Pretty too.

I was hesitant to take a role as navigator. I'm not a skilled map reader! But the route was clearly mapped and whenever we did take the wrong path, we usually weren't alone in doing so. The Oxford performed admirably (hills excepted) and the odo ticked over to a nice round figure:

This Model A was pretty awesome. It wasn't behind us for long, tearing past us at first opportunity.

We stopped at this tall thing. I totally know what it is and where it was, but I'm not going to tell you.

You could climb the tall thing and look at your car as if it were a Micro Machine.

We weren't as isolated as that picture implies. There were others. The whole event was very well organised, but with a delightfully laid back atmosphere.
