Squire_Dawson
Today we participated in the LAC St. George's Day Rally. Conrad graciously stepped into the breach as navigator. This year's rally followed the Lancashire witches and I'm sure we saw some today or at least they could've passed for witches. So these were taken after finishing, which we did in one piece with a few minor hiccups. And if we got lost or couldn't fathom the route instructions we could always get back on course by following the trail of oil. The engine drank a few gallons of petrol and overall it averaged 23 omg mpg. johngarty, Cavcraft, Ghosty and 15 others
artdjones
Interesting.Am I the only one who prefers MK2 Jaguars with their wire wheels painted in body colour? Squire_Dawson and Junkman
Squire_Dawson
Interesting.Am I the only one who prefers MK2 Jaguars with their wire wheels painted in body colour? I concur, we discussed this and concluded it made a refreshing change to chromed spokes. I thought they were black but closer inspection showed up the bottle green. mercrocker
Strictly speaking, it's just like it says on the bootlid - Jaguar 3.4! Tis bloody lovely though and indeed correctly wheeled. Chrome wires are for Septics and cads. Squire_Dawson and Junkman
Conrad D. Conelrad
That was a fun trip! Pretty too. DID2018-05 by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr I was hesitant to take a role as navigator. I'm not a skilled map reader! But the route was clearly mapped and whenever we did take the wrong path, we usually weren't alone in doing so. The Oxford performed admirably (hills excepted) and the odo ticked over to a nice round figure: 47k by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr This Model A was pretty awesome. It wasn't behind us for long, tearing past us at first opportunity. We stopped at this tall thing. I totally know what it is and where it was, but I'm not going to tell you. DID2018-02 by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr You could climb the tall thing and look at your car as if it were a Micro Machine. DID2018-faraway by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr We weren't as isolated as that picture implies. There were others. The whole event was very well organised, but with a delightfully laid back atmosphere. DID2018-03 by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr My driver for the day: DID2018-07 by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr ...and a proper exterior shot of this wonderful car. DID2018-06 by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr BONUS unrelated spots: Freight Rover by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr An Autoshite Recovery Services vehicle, and DID-2018-04 by Conrad Conelrad, on Flickr ...out of nowhere, a random Escort getting caught up in our thing. mercrocker, Asimo, Squire_Dawson and 5 others
Squire_Dawson
Cheers comrade, I would literally have been lost without a navigator. It was a good rally, good company, good photos and above all good shite.
Tayne
Any more pictures of that BMW Z3 which has been turned into a Ferrari 250GTO?It looks like a proper job.
mercrocker
Love the shot of the "A" through the MO's rear window....Shame about the comedy oversize road sign.....
lesapandre
Those A30's look better and better with the passing years. Beautifully cared for and pretty detail perfect - looks like the original colour and wheel colour. Raised letter numberplate and AS1 dash too. Lovely toy. lesapandre
And all in all I think old cars - particularly of the 50's look best in original colours- mostly muted. The Jaguar would not in my view look so good in red etc. Squire_Dawson
lesapandre
Though the mildly customised Hawk looks good too - I had one years ago. They do rust well and spares were not easy then.

I had no idea it was a modern replica. But I am clueless about cars such as this.

Squire_Dawson
Also, before I forget, a gentleman approached us and said they needed another 4 or 5 entrants for The Fellsman trial or it won't be held again, so if you enjoy a challenge and can use maps it might be for you. Junkman
I think I participated in this years ago with a delegation of the P6 Club.My reasoning was that when you have a big bloody V8 and a heavy right foot, you win the rally.Sadly this was not so.
