Just thought it worth giving this a thread of its own.

Looked a great event from last years pictures!

You can guarantee I won't be there at that hour either... just don't want to rock up at 11.30 and find everything being packed away!

I was doing the car boot circuit a few years back (LPs and model cars) and, curiously, some events ran from 6-12 despite advertising their hours as 8.30-3pm... turning up at 8 looking a pitch would get you laughed at. So would turning up at 11 to buy. I don't wanna be that guy (again)!

I went. Bitter cold... but great day none the less. Sort of event now that I can go to and catch up with some old friends I don't get to see much of now.. more of a social event for me... which datsuncog can verify (as I constantly vanished on him)!

Not sure! It didn't actually seize, but it's not sounding happy! Pretty much total oil loss from somewhere - can't even see where. Clearly TAZ was so impressed with Junkyard Jewels that it fancies becoming a permanent resident...

Currently awaiting recovery. RAC are not, apparently, in any great rush to get me off the hard shoulder.

Well, I'd anticipated heading home to warm up and upload some lovely pictures of choice chic in a state of photogenic dereliction, but I'm afraid you'll have to make do with just the one wreck for now...

Oh dear oh dear, as Barry Chuckle might say...

Broken or just pissed itself?

Broken or just pissed itself?

Broken. Very broken. If it ever stops raining/sleeting I'll go out and investigate just how broken... but sudden total oil loss at motorway speed probably ain't a good sign... I pulled over as it was making AN NOIZE, and then... well.

Okay, so leaving my personal dramas with the green Laguna to one side, Junkyard Jewels 2018 was utterly ace. Despite a bracing amount of good Ulster rain/sleet falling, my enthusiasm was dimmed not one jot and I came away with 542 photos... er, yeah. Maybe got a touch carried away, I'll admit.

It's an odd set-up, granted, but it was heartening to see so many weirdos dedicated enthusiasts keen to pay £3 for the privilege of standing in a wet field beside a load of derelict Hillmans on Easter Monday. That, in itself, ought to be celebrated.

My intention is to group the photos together by manufacturer/model, as in my shite-induced delerium I failed to get any sort of coherent system going and basically wandered around in a trance snapping away at random while trying not to hyperventilate. I'm sure I have many duplicate and rubbishy shots to delete. Not least because this is a semi-working yard - so if there's some unobtainium part that you happen to spy in any of the photos, I can provide you with contact details...

Until I get the car pics sorted properly and posted up here, I thought I'd start with a general flavour of the yard... ah, the tang of ferrous oxide, the whiff of rotting leather, the hilarity of slicing your leg open on a lethally sharp bumper... brings back memories, that does.

^^ No prices stated, and I didn't see anyone on hand to ask - I imagine inquiries were to be directed to the yard's main office, but I was too busy bouncing around the place with my cameraphone, like a Labrador hopped up on cocaine-sprinkled Bonio, to do anything remotely sensible such as make enquiries...

Faker reliably informs me that many of the complete cars for sale this year were also for sale last year - though a few have deteriorated somewhat since then. As the prices in this part of the world for retro Blue Oval products seem even less sane than elsewhere, I'd imagine this wee Onion might be a smidge optimistic in its pricing - if there were bargains to be had, I daresay some lad from Ahoghill would surely have pulled out his chequebook and had it away to stash in his haybarn.

This was my stand-out from the sales yard... local registration, 40k on the clock, cosmetically awful but the only serious rot I could see was the o/s rear wheelarch...

Cannot be many of these left. What a colour, too! Quite possibly the Junkman "Do Not Paint" dictum applies here.
