Vauxhall Astra Mk2 Merit Estate.

Just to update..

Yes, I did have a wobbly moment and put it up for sale. No, it isn't for sale anymore. Yes, that could change depending what mood I'm in.

I've whacked a cherry bomb I had in the cupboard on just for childish giggles (removable as no mods needed) and replaced the wiper blades. I've also acquired a can of Nordic Blue spray paint, and I'll try to make it look a bit prettier.

I offered an indicator switch to the new owner of this car. I’m sure I’ll have a suitable wiper switch too if it turns out to be at fault.

I paid a fiver for this ages ago, but it hasn't turned up. And no reply to my message.

It's not the money, just the principle of it. :(

This reminds me of something that happened when I was growing up. A couple of wheel trims were nicked from my dad’s Rover 213 so he decided to visit a scrappers to replace them. So we drove to Ferry Road in Rainham where he walked in to the first scrappers, and was shown to a shipping container sized skip full of mixed wheel trims and wished “Good fucking luck mate”.

That skip’s contents would probably be a decent retirement fund these days :)

Yeah, that sounds like Ferry Lane.

I was down there virtually every Saturday during the eighties.

Still got some bits I bought from there in my shed now, notably a pair of SD1 suspension legs, amongst other stuff.

Was thinking 8 quid a ticket, two for 15? Would that snag anyone's interest?

Being a fucking tight arse and remembering how cheap a half decent mk1 astra could be had in the early 90's, I was thinking £4 a ticket or 2 for £7.50.

I'll get my coat............

Thinking about it this is the sort of roffle that needs to be encouraged.  The sort of car that nobody "sane" would aspire to, and yet, somehow appealing by it's very lack of appeal. So fuck it £8 a ticket or 2 for £7:50 seems fine. I'll have 28 the number of year my marriage will have lasted before it ended, on winning this.

It is a very cool car, clean and tidy inside an practical too.

Even better now with a carb that works properly and some paint on the squiffy bits.

I would, but for the following I'm not:

I'm trying to remove stuff from my world.

I have had the pleasure of this little beastie before.

Insurance wankers will no longer regard it as a classic under their fluctuating and seemingly arbitrary system* of classification.

GLWTR folks :)

Ready to go my man, no numbers for me thanks as the collection mission would require a bank loan.
