purplebargeken
That's because........ the aren't there any anymore. The trims, errr, ran away to seek a better life. Somewhere. Somehow. No bins were involved in the relocation. Honest*
Brodders
Don't worry, they were well past their best and would have been difficult to get back to a decent shape. Anyway, Cavalier L trims add a touch of class that Merit trims could only dream of. Uncle Jimmy

pandamonium
Got this adapter today, to fit the weber carb i have arriving tomorrow... Hope to spend this Saturday fitting it. It will have a manual choke too, none of this new-fangled auto choke lark. Dirk Diggler and Scruffy Bodger

spartacus
If this is a 1.3 or 1.6 then I have a distant memory of the Weber carb being the go-to mod back in the day. It should pep it up a bit. pandamonium

spartacus
75bhp out of of the box already. Me and my mates with 1.1 Golfs and 1.3 Fords were always a little envious of the Astra and Nova lads with all that power*.

pandamonium
So pissed off with myself now. Its not the manifold I was expecting, so the weber won't go on. Back to square one with a shitty Pierburg that won't idle.

pandamonium
Cheaper/ possible to change the manifold? Don't think there is a simple solution. I could bodge an adapter of sorts but better to wait and just use the correct parts.

pandamonium
Luckily, the Weber I bought can be returned as it was a business seller on ebay, so I will just get a service kit for the existing carb I think. purplebargeken
^^ Thank fuck for that. I think I found a Pierburg kit for about 37 squids, possibly on eBay, possibly somewhere else. Most likely eBay. Maybe.

pandamonium
So while still waiting for the service kit, I've done the Mini's oil change, changed the plugs on the Astra and I started to do the thermostat. Should be straightforward? Well, apart from having to take the cambelt cover off, yeah. So, I went to fit the new thermostat that came with the car... Oh for goodness sake this is becoming a joke! So, as usual, one step forward, two steps back... Anyway, have some pics of my 'fleet'. Coprolalia

purplebargeken
Really? Oh cock. I really can't even remember where I got it from. Yes, it was totally 100% the right one for an Astra, oh yes, utterly correct, completely without doubt. Quelle suprise, it isn't the right one. OFFS. Ah, local motor factor!!! Wankers.
