Looks like a grand day out - I had it earmarked but I was already otherwise engaged, went to watch the TCR UK event at Knockhill. Shame they were the same day.

Trouble is that people increasingly lack the patience / attention span to do so.

The visa/GS/GSA/2cv all seemed to draw people who's parents/grandparents had one - was nice to see them remembering trips out:)

We need that Visa down here in Buckinghamshire on September 8th! :-)

What's on the 8th September?

I really need to sit down and get all the Citroen shows in my diary so the Activa can get to them... she's been a regular fixture at many for many years and it will confuse people if she's not there!

Current fleet: 1996 Citroen Xantia 2.0T Activa. 1993 Lada Riva 1.5EFi Estate.  1990 Mercedes 208D Auto Trail Navajo.  1985 Sinclair C5.  1973 & 1975 AC Model 70s.

Went out for a tasty Mexican dinner in this tonight.

Parked in the 'hipster' spots, by the door, naturally!

Enjoyed good food and company before driving home in glorious sunset technicolour..

I'm imagining its sommat to do with 40yeara of the visa?

Yes! :-)

The Citroen Car Club's 'Chevrons Rally' at Little Horwood in north Bucks is going to host a special get-together of as many Visas as possible, to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Six-cylinder rather bravely volunteered to take the lead on organising this part of the event, so I know he'd welcome the support. More details here:

In for an MOT..

A failure, but only 2 wee patches of welding.

1 on offside front floor, one on offside rear sill.

Boys at MOT centre were impressed!

Yep, shouldn't be too bad.

I had a look under it when on the ramp - properly solid thing, and no real areas of concern beyond the welding.

Shouldn't take much to gitter tiptop.

In celebration, I treated her to new wipers in the correct size (16")

That sound you can hear is the anguished cry of Dollywobbler as he sees the flat blades:)

Got the opportunity to get the MOT fail items sorted on this at the weekend..

Firstly, the right rear outer sill got cleaned, cut and patched.

IMG_20180527_110938.jpg IMG_20180527_110945.jpg
IMG_20180527_111206.jpg
This was a nice easy repair - set car to high, place axle stand appropriately, set car to low.

Marvellous.

Patch was let In, tidied up a touch and covered in Vactan and underseal.

Next up was the outer skin on the front floor.

It was a classic case of underseal splitting and letting water in.

IMG_20180527_124807.jpg

The patent "Oxford" method of corrosion assessment (grinder mounted wire brush followed by screwdriver) revealed 3 holed sections.

2 were small 1" X2" patches, but the third was a relatively long, thin strip.

Some swearing, cutting and grinding later, we had clean surfaces to weld to, and some panels available.

IMG_20180527_130928.jpg
IMG_20180527_181104.jpg

Once these were welded in, it was a second case of "Vactan n spray shoot".

All done, I'll get it in for the retest on Friday, all being well.

Additionally, some little rust spots were rubbed back and Vactan'd to halt the spread.

IMG_20180527_133857.jpg

IMG_20180527_134928.jpg

And I have procured a second headrest - wrong colour but has both parts and should slot into driver's seat for additional comfort.

Screenshot_20180529-232755.png

Once I get an MOT the work can commence in earnest..
