I've been considering this a while, but I do need something with a larger boot, and a diesel I think for my commutes as I am dividing my time more so with visiting family down south frequently. Think I have most likely secured what I want on here as it stands as well.

I bought this only a few months ago. To me, they're rare in this guise, and I was blown away with how good this car had been kept. Granted it's not for everyone, but, it is a period where Toyota in my mind got it all right.

It has the largest history file I have ever encountered. Numerous bills/stamps from Toyota dealers and specialists. It was kept mostly garaged all it's life, and the previous owners were all from the same family. I know this as when I picked it up, they all wanted to say goodbye to it, which I loved. Just rolled onto 77,000 miles.

In all my tat owning years, this has been my favourite car. It drives perfectly. Gearbox is light, engine revs and pulls, and is "sewing machine" quiet. Idles well, does not use a single drop of oil/water. The engine bay is dry and incredibly kept. The bodywork, near immaculate. The only "negatives" are the roof has some lacquer thinning/peel, and slight scuff to the rear bumper, which is only noticeable if you look for it. There is zero rust, which is remarkable. When I was having the tyres done I made a point to get under it, and it's superb. Puts a lot of "modern" cars to shame. Bodywork is really, a credit to the previous family. Interior also, is to use the cliche, "timewarp".

I want this to go to a good home and I know on this parish, it will hopefully find someone directly or indirectly. I get attached to cars and spend without restriction, and this one more than most, and I have cherished it.

I've done the following: Full service (oil/filter and sump plug, air, NGK plugs), new NSF caliper and brake fluid, genuine Toyota rocker gasket/grommets, genuine Toyota PCV valve and grommet, 4 Goodyear Efficientgrip tyres, pair of new number plates from Motorline Toyota, and Bosch wipers all round. Also, 2 new window regulators/motors for both front windows (I broke these like a moron due to the icy weather). I also lubricated every joint, every door, every area I could.

It's the 4A-FE engine, which many of you know well. Non interference, and cambelt has been changed albeit a few years ago, but the interim mileage has stayed low. I got my mechanic to have a look and he said it was in good condition. All the electrics work perfectly.

It has 3 keys, and at some point the driver side was changed by Toyota and an individual key is provided for the driver. This thing will provide endless years of reliable trouble free motoring.

I'd like £700. It's priced higher elsewhere, but shiters discount applied.

There are many 2004 and newer motors that would envy this MOT history...

Yo Sims. I know exactly where you are. Right around the corner from Mahmouds old garage. I may have even seen your car before.

It is a lovely car by the looks of it. I remember seeing loads of these in Brussels, they really are excellently built cars to do what they are built to do, just work.

Good luck with sale.

This is superb, reminds me of my Auris. It's built to just work.

Good luck with the sale, I truly hope that whoever takes it on cares for it.

My mum had the 1.3 auto one and still compared every car afterwards to it.
I got her a low miler one which looked mint but had a few mech issues (turned out to be water in the fuel) but that was it. The red one she had before it never failed to do anything wrong in about 8 years until my sister got hold of it. Mechanically and rust wise there's cars are incredible, the engine is so lively, it even handled pretty well.

Pinnacle of Toyota durability, that car with even basic maintenance would see it at least ten years with no major faults.

Appreciate all the kind comments. This is potentially sold, pending Burnside getting in touch with me and giving me the go ahead for the Passat. A chap came and fell in love immediately, and confirmed the potential sale with me earlier.
