67Beetle
Good restoration project or parts carQuite solid for its age, can be inspected on a 4 post ramp if required.Mostly complete, the missing front panel, bumpers, windscreen etc are included. There may be some trim or smaller mechanical parts missing – you will need to check for yourself what is there. There is no V5 as the car has been off the road for a long period of time, vin tags are in place and a receipt will be given.Must be of use to someoneEngine is in great condition and could be heard runningCar is in the Forest of Dean (Gloucestershire) £950 or offers Dick Longbridge, Junkman, 59Impala and 12 others

lesapandre
The late Alan Clark really rated these - 'Backfire' his collected motoring articles is worth a read and turns up on Ebay etc. Please please please may this be restored 'as is' or smartened up and not go for a hotrod, ratrod, stock car or parts if that is possible. Our motoring heritage is disappearing and with the MoT and Tax exemptions surely this will find a loving home who can afford to tinker and enjoy it without breaking the bank. mercrocker, timolloyd, Junkman and 2 others
67Beetle
Hopefully someone will save this one - it is a project but not rotted out. It looks a lot worse than it is. The owner has three others to sell so this one will have to go, he is open to sensible offers Junkman

barefoot
My mother learned to drive in one of these that my old man shared with my grandfather.I was a small child and only really remember that the front seat was a huge slippery red bench, that I was regularly catapulted from into the footwell whilst mother got to grips with the brakes. Those were the days ehIt was replaced with a Cortina Mk 1 for the grandparents & a Morris 1000 convertible for us. 67Beetle
This one is indeed a velox with the six cylinder engine, it also has the 'crossbow' grille shown in the advert above which looks nice.Would be great for it to be saved as it has lasted this long
lesapandre
I remember them as a child...they have a great 'shrunk' Chevrolet look with 'clap hands' wipers. lesapandre
And lack of V5 should nor present a problem given its age.
67Beetle
It still has the number plates on the car and the VIN tags are all in place - worst case you would get an age related plate. The owner did have a restored one in this colour, they look nice when done.He would like to see it saved hence its priced to sell

Now is the time I wish I had a shed or two - my Cowley was not needing as much work as this but was still in huge danger of being hot rodded. Indeed somebody in the yard had already hung pink furry dice in it and announced their intent just before I bought it. Really hope the Velox finds a good home, there are far too few of these about now. eddyramrod and Dick Longbridge
lesapandre
And with that 6 cylinder should be able to make good progress in today's traffic - Alan Clark rated them. So useable not some antique.
Junkman
And with that 6 cylinder should be able to win the Stan Woods Memorial. FTFY primeradoner

The Old Bloke Next Door
It will be a shame if it ends its days on the oval, but I suppose needs must. Have you tried advertising it on Farcebook?, there are several old car enthusiasts groups on there. Sold two of my fleet recently on there for good money after having no success any where else. lesapandre
Its a big pity if lost. Panels alone must be like hens teeth. It's a lovely old thing. Thinking out loud in countries like Australia do cars like this also get raced? Or is there more demand and interest by enthusiasts? Such a rare car. There are several others for sale? Its the usual proverbial storage problem. You hear about and see the escalating value of classics but when it comes to sell for anything you have a devil of a job as I know. 67Beetle
Have tried it on a few sites, it seems projects cars are not that popular these daysEveryone seems to want a mint car and will pay daft moneyi know the owner would like to see it be restored rather than raced

primeradoner
So far the only offers have been from racers, shame to see it go that way but it has to be sold If that is the case why has it been advertised on Ovalchat for weeks in fact months? Normal practise is to offer it for restoration first. Looks to me that the main priority is to get as much money as possible not to save it from the oval DodgeRover
Squire_Dawson
With all due respect it's a £400-500 car at best; restoring this would be a labour of love and would have to be practically all complete as replacement parts are like trying to find the missing van Goghs (and priced similarly). mercrocker
To my untrained and somewhat rose-tinted eyes that looks quite a straight car. If the major panels that are missing in the photo are there and those sills are not cavity foam then the car deserves a chance. My biggest problem taking this on would be storage (and money, skills and time but I tend to overlook those 3). If the group purchase suggestion has got any legs at all I would be happy to talk about participating. PMs welcome!

MarvinsMom
didn't the Trotters have a (convertable) Vauxhall Velox originally? one wonders what state its in underneath, but given its got what appear to be good doors and wings, then a chap with the right skiills would be able to bring this piece of detroit luton's finest back to life. sadly this isn't me, but i would so like to see it back on the roadm and not on the oval......
