How much is it?

Not sure yet. Damage limitation money. It owes me 700 but I know I won't get that back.

If any shiter feels inclined to take this on, some info....

It will take you about 8 miles before pressurising and blowing steam. 5 minutes of cooling off and topping up with cold water buys you another 5 miles and repeat or call the BYT. HGF definitely, might be liner drop, might not.

The gearbox works fine in high box but flashes lights in low box. Still drives in low box.
Suspension works as it should.
General Grabbers all round (Not square) with good tread.
Mot and tax.
The closer I can get to £500 the better.
Collect on your way home from shitefest.

on a slight aside, fatha thestags mate was one of the first into Port stanley after liberation in a Herc. he said there was evidence that the argies were filling in the huge hole on the run way overnight and then digging it out again before dawn

anyone not read 607 Vulcan book I suggest you do so post haste

607 mission itself was just fucking epic, more to put the fear into the "enemy" that Argentina itself was within target of our bombers

Still remains one of the best books I ever read, in fact it got me back into reading again after countless years.

Worth a trip to your local car auction? Might be worth having a word with them to see what they think it'll fetch (don't mention the problem) and if you can put a reserve on it.

There is a Saturday Sale on at Thainstone on the 14th. Usually a few P38s in amongst the pickups.

With 5 miles between cool-downs and topping up the water, if you leave now you should make it in time for entries.

Back in my landrover owning days I read an article in one of the magazines about a garage owner having one of these with a liner issue. Economic write off in other words. He managed to "fix" it with k-seal and ran it for several months before selling it on. The new owner got it £cheap and knew the story with the engine and 18 months later it was still running. He applied the k-seal in the following way IIRC. Drain coolant, disconnect top hose and dump 2 bottles of k-seal into the hose so it goes straight into the block and it's not sitting in the expansion tank doing SFA. Fill up coolant and bleed. Run the car at idle for a whole hour with the cap off the expansion tank so no pressure builds in the system. Fit expansion tank cap and cross fingers. Got to be worth giving a go??

It's had these down its gullet although I didn't drain the coolant first.

I think the garage chap believed the secret to his success was to leave it idling with the cap off long enough to let the k-seal do it's job without coolant pressure blowing it out from where it was needed. I think he let it fully cool down afterwards too to let the "magic" set before risking running with pressure in the system. Even with the steam escape you should have loads of sealer left in your system. I'd try leaving it idling for an hour with the cap off then let it cool fully and try another test drive. Other than the £10 in fuel it'll probably chew through idling for an hour it won't cost you anything.

I hope you can get it fixed, or at least sold.

And it's sold. Stuck it on Facebook for 600 and a local came and bought it.

He's coming back with a trailer next week.

Can't be a bad result. Bought the most dangerous car in the world at auction, meddled about with it, down about £100, sold without much hassle.
