pauldoubleyou
Wiring. Just had to share the fun. Sorting out the loom for the Lupo and before I got it, it’s been dipped in 300k old diesel oil I think. So I spent an hour cleaning it and an hour stripping and labelling. One more loom to do then into splicing Scary stuff Using sky wipes. Literally the greatest ever non chemical based cleaning wipes. Look how pretty it all is now The bin of clips and sheathing for cleaning and refit / bin. I’ve got three now. pauldoubleyou
First half of the loom done. Have I really just stripped an entire loom just to remove oil? Well, aside from deleting some feeds essentially yes. This is half of a 1.8t Skoda Octavia loom for those wondering, I have no clue where all the plugs go so had to clean and label it up. This means that the engine itself in my Lupo project (signature) is wired now. Next half is tomorrow. This involves separating and isolating stuff I no longer need such as air recirc, power steering, air con and other Audi shite. Is also involves solving a few wires into the lupos original look for the elements of the engine that require power.. such as lambdas and the ecu lives (switched and permanent) and earths. Just to add until a month ago I had no idea how to start. With the help of the internet I can now read a wiring diagram and confidently action my plans. Fuck knows what people did before google, I couldn’t have done it without previous peoples experiences, forums and spreadsheets. Done! Roobarb
I have a similar nightmare heading my way and just bought a large 'wipe clean' plastic covered diagram from evilbay.Even then, I think I've got my work cut out for me...Any chance you want to visit a very cold garage in Minnesota? mk2_craig
Fuck knows what people did before google, I couldn’t have done it without previous peoples experiences, forums and spreadsheets.Things tended to be that bit simpler back then anyway and I guess car clubs were relied upon a bit more for tech info. For engine swaps I found the Haynes manuals reasonably comprehensive and accurate when it came to wiring diagrams, though to be fair all I was doing at the time was dropping XR2 engines into 1.1 Fiestas which electrics-wise is an absolute piece of piss compared to your project. Keep up the good work!!
