1979 Toyota Celica

This is the remains of a Toyota Celica I bought recently. It’s missing half it’s interior, doesn’t start and has had several “upgrades” by someone who obviously wanted to race it. At least there’s no rust. Yet.... fits right in

Hi and welcome to JNC.

Tuned in! Some of these are well cool.

I remember a guy ahd a red one of these on Deals on Wheels. He also had an Iguana that used to come for rides, on his shoulder.

If it was an RA28 or TA22 I would combust with envy.

Get the pics up!

What's your plans for this one? Get it up and running, add a few of the missing interior bits and then a coupla passes of clearcoat to top it off?

That’s about It although I do want to give it a decent paint job. It needs front seats aswell which will be hard to find.

I swapped a Renault 14 for one of those Celicas when I was at college, would that aircon compressor mean it's an XT? If so it's the rarest of rare things. Mine had the bastarding bonnet pins added also, swapped it after a few trouble free years for a Saab 99.

Yes it is. It’s was an automatic aswell which is even rarer. This needs the bonnet pins as some of the bonnet bracing has been cut out.
