Rover 618il. Selling as she failed her not on welding to her rearcrossmember. I have extensive service history going back ten years. Car belonged to a work mate of mine. Electrics all work. I would rather sell to someone who could fix her, but I can't keep her for ever. I could use some electric bits for my other 600. Body is good for age, as is interior.350, car is located in Ayrshire Scotland.Forgot to say car was serviced Jan last year and timing belts done then also. However little or no mileage done since then as not failed shortly after. Honda engine runs v sweetly.

These are great cars (despite them not being made prior to 1986) and completely unappreciated/unloved. That engine will go on forever while the bodywork slowly rots away. They obviously weren't a major sales success for Rover either, because the amount of survivors with Brummie registrations would tend to suggest they started out on the Longbridge company fleet, before being sold off through the dealer network.

Mine is odd, the supplying dealer stamp in the book is blurred but it's a Coventry address and postcode, while it has a Peterborough 'AV' reg. It was sold by the High Wycombe Rover dealer (Arrivas) to a private owner at one year old, who kept it for the next 14 years.

Ten years ago you could get a 620ti for £300. I used to remove the T16 turbo lumps and fit them into 220s, coupes, and later ZRs and a few ZS. Big fat heavy lumps with 200hbp out of two litres. Not amazingly tuneable either. It was wasted spark instead of dizzy cap so required a bit more wiring, and the PS hose was a mismatch but otherwise it was plug and play. You could also get the gearbox that fit most of the range with LSD fitted for extra fun.

The 600 didn't do well at all and was billed as a direct replacement for the 800 series (which is a fecking superb car but have never owned one). They were tinny though and basically a direct rebadge of a jap motor. Even with the T16 in it it was sluggish.

anyone has an 827 / 820 coupe i would be interested though..

The 600 was never a direct replacement of the 800. The 800 started out in 1986 and ended in about 1998/99, the 600 started in 1993 and lasted until 1999 so the 600 and 800 were in production together all the way down in Cowley. The Rover 75 was billed as replacing the 600 and 800 together.

Shame you hadn't asked me some years ago as I sold my 827 Coupe for about £350. I love Rover 800s but I didn't love the Coupe I had as it was badly bodged all over the place which I tried to reverse. Thankfully it still lives on!
