Durham850 Posted February 5, 2018 Share Posted February 5, 2018 I'm finally at the point where I'm bored of the old girl so I think now when it's got almost a full MOT is the time to let it go! It's been a good relationship and I'm sad to wave her off but the saloon boot is just too impractical (had to borrow a friends clio to move a fridge freezer yesterday and that shouldn't happen when you own a big old volvo) a little bit about her, she's a 1996 Nreg volvo 850 2.5tdi manual transmission saloon, she's Swedish racing green with beige half leather interior, pretty clean for her age and has a lot of extras for a 22 year old car, here is a list of what works4 electric windowsElectric/heated mirrorsHeated seatsCruise controlCd player/tape deck/radioThe list of what doesn't work nowThe sunroofs got stuck open so once I got it closed I unplugged it incase it happened againThe milage reading has been on 209,000 since I bought it 2 years ago and I've honestly done about 50,000 miles in it since then.It starts first time as long as you let the glow plugs heat up first, the car has never ever let me down.In the time I've owned the car I have spent quite a bit of money keeping it right, last year I serviced it, so new oil and filters, it also had new brake discs and pads all around last year as well as having the springs and shock absorbers replaced (the previous owner had the car lowered I wanted it standard).It's got a few scratches on the bottled and a bit of rust bubbling around one wheel arch but the car is very solid and always gets praised by the MOT tester.I will consider a swap into something else Swedish preferably or interesting but it would need to have an MOT and be usable, not sure how much I want for the car so come at me with offers if you is interestedOh yeah car is located in County Durham Dirk Diggler 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Managed it last year in my early V70 TDi on a 600 mile round trip to London last summer. Deadly boring but amazing economy! Very cheeky, but I'd really like a go in one of these things! That and I can regale the story of being on holiday years ago and seeing LP driving past in a large boxy Volvo which smelt of chips. That's the whole story mind. We were on our way out from Nethy Bridge and you were going the opposite direction. I think it was a Volvo, certainly it was whatever you were driving at the time (I think it was Len Hatred.) Durham850 Posted February 8, 2018 Author Share Posted February 8, 2018 Well as is usually the way with me and cars, it has behaved itself for the whole two years I have owned it, however once I decide to part ways she decides to spit a spring out from under the clutch pedal, a spring which isn't available in the uk and can only be ordered from Sweden! warninglight Posted February 9, 2018 Share Posted February 9, 2018 Is the plastic part that goes on the end of the spring ok? That's normally the bit that breaks, letting the spring fall out.
