bramz7
Hello. So this car has caused me some grief in the past week or so. Long story short it isn't without its faults but drives happily enough. Turbo lag aplenty too, but when it gets going it's unstoppable.Seats are alright if a bit soft, typical 205.Has some bubbly bits and some dents, the biggest is behind the drivers side rear door and arch. Didn't break much paint though.Currently having it fixed and MOT'd so should be available from this weekend short of a disaster.Delivery possible if fuel and fare covered.Located in Reading. Talbot
So one duff brake, two balljoints, a leaky exhaust and a busted horn. I do hate the way that an MOT fail sheet looks so much worse than it actually is. Lacquer Peel and mitsisigma01
Daviemck2006
That's a very easy fix up for retest. Sent from my SM-T585 using Tapatalk Cavcraft
rantingYoof
I'm the least competent mechanic ever (i.e. I'm not one) but on an awesome little 205 dizzler that list cannot attract a bill much into three figures, shirley?
Talbot
Brake. Dismantle, clean, reassemble. £0Balljoints. Bay of snot, £30 (maybe. dunno how much they cost)Leaky exhaust. Weld, or shove a section into it. £20.Inoperative horn. Probably duff wiring. Even if a new horn is needed, £10. £60. Free retest. Done. rantingYoof
bramz7
It's not as bad as I anticipated. I had a feeling it was blowing from somewhere as it had 'that' exhaust note coming from it. Brakes are a surprise as the handbrake felt fine, as did most the rest, if a little noisy when the car was cold. Still, when it's all passed it'll be a good one. If no one here wants it I'll probably brave eBay...
Coprolalia
Have a bump as I really fancy one of these but the timing is all wrong for me.Hope it stays in teh shitefold!
lesapandre
Had trouble with a PSA horn recently - I'm no mechanic but connector was off - its pretty exposed still no luck but website advised giving it a few hard knocks to 'free' internal plunger et voila it worked! SierraMikeHotel
Dammit... I really like these, but the timing is off - and if you're selling at that price with an MoT, it's a bargain. Give this a bump before you go to eBay? Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Anthony
Balljoints. Bay of snot, £30 (maybe. dunno how much they cost) TRE's are cheap as chips - sub £10 - but wishbone balljoints are part of the wishbone and can't be replaced separately, so more like £50-60. Double check that it is the balljoint that's failed though - the hubs can wear oval allowing the balljoint pin to move around, which is often mis-diagnosed by MOT testers as a failed balljoint. Looks like a tidy example and price sounds very reasonable with it fixed and a fresh ticket on it
willswitchengage
ooooooooooooooo I also live in Reading Fancy a swap for this? 1991 Corolla 1.3, 35k miles, no big service jobs due, newish tyres and cambelt, super clean interior. Does though have scrapes on all corners and the carburettor is boggy on the primary venturi (it was laid up for a number of years before I bought it). MOT May I think http://autoshite.com/topic/27113-three-years-of-carburettor-drama/ CGSB
bramz7
Hmmm, I'm interested. If you're able to send me more photos at all that'd be good. Also ideal that you're local!
willswitchengage
Don't have many photos sadly, these are just the ones I have on Facebook. I've had the car for four years and other than exploding tyres (I bought it with the originals - one dead previous owner) it's been fine, but boring. Great for reliability but I fancy something different, always wanted a 205 diesel as I loved my old BXs - even if they did cost me an arm and a leg. bramz7
This is STILL here. The winner on ebay is now ignoring my texts and messages via the site. He can do one. Someone on here can have it for £175 as is. Engine is amazing, interior spotless. MOT fail is online, it won't take an experienced spanner long to fix it up. Really, really, really, really need it gone ASAP. Thanks.
bramz7
Actually, if someone on this trusted forum wants it, they can have it for £125. Fire sale or what? jollyfkr2 and D Spares & Tyres
