Spottedlaurel
Quite a few things from the last couple of days. Some belong in Spotted's Spottings, which is well overdue an update, but for simplicity I'm going to bung them all here as they collectively added up to A Good Weekend. Rearrange the letters to give a popular address with Rover K-Series owners. Something of a WTF moment when I saw this in the car park at Foxhall (Unlimited Banger world final). It was initially the peaked nose I glimpsed, then the rest of it came into view. Apparently a 19** Daimler Sovereign, surely it must be a known car? Edit: Registration airbrushed out, I don't want there to be any discussion/supposition about its ID. I shan't post pic's of the racing, but there was some obscure stuff in action like Mazda RX8 and Eunos Cosmo amongst the Scorpios, Merc's, Volvos and assorted Americana. This thing has been out of use all summer after a brake warning light came on and I had too much stuff going on to bother getting it sorted (and other cars to use). Finally got it round to the garage - the handbook had suggested much worse/imminent death but the warning light ended up being for just a brake light being out (oops/blush) but the calipers did need freeing-up and the fluid got changed so it's all set for winter now. It could do with a set of tyres, thinking of getting a set of winter jobbies on my spare set of steels which would make it very useable - it's a bit of a faff having to top-up three of them every few days. What was the site that sold cheap ones? Even so, driving it down to Ipswich last night reminded me how much I like the old thing and why I persevere with it. It has slightly less power than my 1.8 petrol Avensis but feels so much torquier(?). With grotty weather on the way the Sunny will see much less use so it should come into its own on those days when I want a change from the Avensis. Found this when taking daughter to her friend's. I first saw it yesterday, but couldn't resist a trip back there today in the Sunny for a period correct photo (in itself a good excuse for a very pleasant country drive in the early autumn sunshine). The MoT site says it'd only done 35k at its last MoT and it looks pretty tidy. I shall be leaving a note/trying to track down its owner..... Then went to view that local Sunny as seen on the eBay tat thread. Friendly lad selling it, let me go for a drive - feels as tight as mine (it has even lower mileage, 36k vs. 44k) and it has more more toys and a plusher interior. Bodywork will need a few issues addressing however - it's what mine would have looked like if I'd let it go for another year or two. Left still happy with my one (but still thinking about that 323). And finally.... Audi 75? by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr First saw this rarity a year or so back. Obviously unused for many years. Hadn't seen it again until..... Today, complete with registration telling us it's been untaxed since 1985. Even then it'd have been an unusual sight. dollywobbler
Absent friends meet again. I wonder if you'll ever see your Daimler or Bluebird again? Daimler - not a chance. I imagine it's been crushed. Bluebird has fallen on hard times, but it sounds like a rescue plan is afoot.

Parky
Not a proper grin just yet but prepping for my interview going ok. Just walked up and down the garden chain smoking and doing a presentation in my head. Considering I was doing it off pat with no notes, I felt relatively comfortable with the material and salient points. Not too bad all in all but still work to do. Progress though, two days ago I didn’t know any of this stuff and today I am feeling like a bit of an old hand. Not letting the confidence get too uncontrolled though. Provided the black dog can stay in its kennel for a few more days I reckon I might be in with half a chance. This week I will be finishing my current contract which is another way of saying that this week I will be online and doing a few calls to give the impression of activity whilst reading and reading and reading for the interview. cobblers, blakey79, drum and 7 others
DodgeRover
Lpg 56.9ppl at Sainsburys Watford WD25, saved £20 filling the van, cheapest I've seen for ages! Stanky
As I left work earlier I spotted a newish Audi A4 in resale silver, nothing much to comment on there, however the plate surround thing suggested it had potentially passed through our very own purveyor of Vauxhall's finest products at some time. Check it out https://www.cavectracentre.com/ I thought he lived in Chester, not Grays? Anyway, glad to see they've clearly not moved with the times at all on the name, though I doubt someone would be entirely happy with the plate surround thing on a twenty grand Bentley! danthecapriman
Nothing major I suppose but today I popped out in the Volvo, went round the corner to get some petrol, filled up and went inside to pay.Came back outside to find a passing elderly couple had stopped and were looking at the Volvo lovingly! As I got closer I could hear them say what a lovely old car it was! Made me smile because it’s nice to see all your efforts making and keeping things nice do get noticed sometimes, but also because old 740’s are certainly are not what you’d call appreciated classic cars and rarely get much attention. busmansholiday
And I was only there on Thursday.. WOMAN BANNED FOR LIFE ON BRADFORD BUSES A woman has received a lifetime ban from a Bradford bus company after repeatedly breaking wind in their vehicles. On one occasion a driver was physically sick. Bradford Magistrates Court heard how Yolande Pogba, aged 48 from Lumb Lane, Bradford revelled in what she was doing and on most occasions would bend over to create the maximum impact. On 18th June 2016, Mrs Pogba (pictured) boarded a packed bus at Bradford Interchange and crouched next to an elderly gentleman. As the bus set off, she let off an excruciating sound from her bottom. Mrs Pogba, clearly impressed with her actions then shouted "Some bastard has squashed a Frog" The bus company recorded 148 separate incidents. On the 22nd June, she boarded a bus in Holmewood and forced her way into the drivers cab, repeatedly breaking wind, cupping her hands and rubbing the atrocious smell into the drivers face until he was sick. Solicitor Rick Head, representing Mrs Pogba asked for the court to be sympathetic "My client is addicted to Jamaican Rum and kidney beans and unfortunately this brings out the worst in her personality and makes her bottom talk" The court fined Mrs Pogba £375 and ordered her to pay £20 compensation to the bus driver - Mr Bob Aloo Bhuna. She was also sentenced to 120 hours community service. Pmsl Tadhg Tiogar, danthecapriman, SiC and 5 others

Tamworthbay
Researching bits and pieces for the upcoming epic saving of the Ovlov, crank locking requires a special tool that is not available to buy anywhere but can be ordered from Sweden for £90 OR shove a big fuckoff screwdriver in the inspection hole to wedge the flywheel. Guess which option I think we will be going with? Parts are being slowly collected and hopefully Saturday will see it sorted with any luck (provided parts arrive from Germany in time). I have decided to treat it to a new serpentine belt and air filter while we are at it (it had oil and filter two weeks ago) as they will have to be removed so makes sense to put new back for the sake of a few quid. Only a crappy Crosland air filter but can’t stretch to a better one and not that fussed for air filters.

Aston Martin
For a Sept 14 car which has covered 34,000 miles it has had so many recalls and replacement parts well exceeding £3000. Here are a few. Catalytic converter, new rear discs and pads, 2 rear doors, multiple re-sprays (6), latches, adblue reservoir and injector and no doubt other faults I have forgotten about. Just had its BIG service and MOT yesterday which has cost £480. The only thing which has been faultless is the engine. My car will have had 6 door resprays, 2 new doors, 3 sets of air-bumps when this work has been completed and it doesn't finish there. He had his doors replaced, which is common on early ones. The body shop fitted doors from Wickes by the look of it. Then his bubbles expanded and stretched the paint. I have noticed my doors making a loud popping noise in extreme heat. Mine have never come with rodents as a standard fitting. On the other hand, spiders seem to like moving into my cars shortly after I've bought them, and they always build webs on the passenger side.
