A 1972 Rover P6 3500 Auto. Might be a bucket of shite, but it's worth spending some cash on to rescue.

1962 Rover P4 100. Two owners from new, 58k miles, overdrive. It's been in there since 1990, solid as a solid thing, stainless exhaust, it's actually sitting on stands in the picture, never seen paint or filler, unmarked dark blue leather interior, all undersealed properly underneath and insanely solid, all suspension bushes renewed while it's been in there. It's complete with tool kit, handbooks, workshop manual, wheel trims, spare engine and gearbox, cranking handle, spare brake drums, radiator and a few other bits and bobs. The paint is quite funny on it, it's shiny under the dust, but there are little microblisters of rust on the steel panels - wings mainly. The chrome is all there, all straight but it needs rechroming, the mazak bits are present but aged. It is 48 years old, but it's all there so I don't mind. It's got the Viking head mascot.

It's even got an ancient garage sticker on the A pillar saying 'next service due at' with 28,000 miles hand written on.

I'm very very happy with today.

The Herald/Anglia/Mini would still have been young designs then.

Well, went to pick up the P6 today from Stoke. Bit of a nervous experience that, going to buy a P6 with no MOT from 55 miles away and having to risk booking it in for an MOT to drive it home. It's not bad. Three of the wings are a touch on the crispy side and the chap I bought it from has obviously been playing at trying to make it his own. Few silly badges, 'orrible seat covers, big hefty rubber mats etc.Luckily, under the mats the carpets are fine, passengers seat has a few split seams in the leather, but it's 90% there. Drove to the MOT station from Stoke fine, one slight stutter which cleared pretty much instantly.Oh, and it flew the MOT. Not even an advisory. Only comment being "The brakes on that are better than on most modern stuff"
