Plenty of Chumley Warner stuff in this.

I purchased a house in Reading with attached to cable at the rear of the house. Nothing on the deeds so tried to remove it. Only for a repair gang to turn up and do their work. That was in the late 1990s

'we cannot even contemplate the failure of British Leyland' fascinating stuff about BL suppliers. 'the metro is the whole object of our efforts' 'the fiesta and polo are showing the way' 'I don't know what the alternatives are if the country stops making motor cars' 'the Germans have worked out how to do it better'

I loved this - better than a lot of "real" telly

Bloke replaces rear suspension arms on his Disco 3 on his driveway - over several weeks!

Miss out the first 19 seconds as they don't relate to the quality of the rest.

Sorry... why is he tightening the rear arm bolt at 20.00 or so in an attempt to undo it?  Also, a hint... scaffolders know which blades are good in a metal saw, use those.

Not convinced that this guy is doing things in the most efficient and productive way.

I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't do a print out on some graph paper at the end. Where can I get one?

They'd probably lock him up these days. Or at least track his movements via CCTV.
Especially if he'd been hanging around outside schools and near ice-cream vans.
'Weirdo eccentric who lives in a cave gets near young children shocker'.

Mind you, in hindsight, his work-clothes were possibly slightly ill-chosen. It's not exactly a lollypop-man costume like the blokes employed by the council wear.
It's a bit
- "Yeah kids, I'm going to help you cross the road then pick one of you up in my arms in a minute. Do you like my new pants? They're from M&S. Oh, and this is my badge. I'm Batman you see".
Well-meaning perhaps.

Being an independent self-employed crime-fighter and part-time freelance road-safety advisor it was entirely his choice to wear what he wanted to. It's just that he doesn't seem to be dressed very 'normal', if you see what I mean. Parents and car-drivers could get concerned. Especially at 8.30 in the morning. I don't think he thought it through properly.
Live and let live.

A couple of minor inaccuracies from the guy commentating this short 4-min vid but obv a massive V6 Capri enthusiast and thanks for making the vid. The days of generally just trashing V6 Capris were a long time ago.
Great early 80s period 'foot to the floor' hooning of a well-lived Mk1 3000 GXL.
I was slightly too young to have experienced Mk1 GXL ownership (passed driving test 1986) but the Mk2 V6 Ghia manual and Mk3 3.0S were part of my car history. A 4-speed early 2.8 Injector too, but not the later 2.8 Special with lsd, although have driven more than a few over the years.
Late 80s, early 90s. They went through the same sort of treatment as in this vid which pretty much sums up the situation.

In 1990 over 9 months I did 27000 miles in a 1979 3.0S travelling daily to and from work.
At 21mpg that was a lot of petrol when I think about it now.
