Supernaut
Oh cock, I still need to post you a cage! I've got one on order from ebay now. Due any day. Decided to have a quick look at thermostats on GSF. They list three, with different opening temperatures! 80 Celsius, 88 Celsius, and 92 Celsius! Gah! Fuck it, my local ECP has one in stock with an opening temp of 82 Celsius, with a new gasket included. They also have a discount code active at the moment that brings it down to £6. I'll collect that on my way home later! Ghosty and Tickman
Supernaut
Lowering the tone in old Aberdeen. I finish at 4 today, the tyre place nearby is open until half 5, so will see about getting the tracking looked at. 320touring, Tickman, Split_Pin and 2 others
Supernaut
Feels good to have both front wheels pointing the same direction! The tracking was properly fucked before it was corrected. I also collected my discs and pads from the Parcelforce depot. Tomorrow it gets a service! Oil, oil filter, air filter, aux belt, brake discs and pads, the radio with a USB port fitted, and a good clean! fatharris
Nice work on the MOT, and the advisories don't look too strenuous either! Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk Supernaut
Supernaut
Today I replaced: the oil, the oil filter, the air filter, the thermostat, the coolant, the auxiliary belt the front discs and pads, and the radio. It's properly sorted now. I then took it to a car meet and lowered the tone. Found some prime shite though! It feels like a different car to how it was when I got it. It's quiet, wind-tight, drives in a straight line, holds its temperature properly, and brakes without juddering all over the place. Oh yes, cross-use of tools occurred. I used a bicycle headset spanner to remove the fan from the front of the engine. Dirk Diggler, Rave, Split_Pin and 5 others
320touring
Excellent work- especially not damaging the thermostat housing:) I must get a wee passenger hurl in it at some point..see if I feel any different re it! Supernaut
Took it to the shops, via the jet wash. Today I also noticed an interesting quirk with the heating and ventilation in this car. Observe the below photo. In this photo, it is set to fan speed one, ambient temperature, and it is directing the air through the face vents. Yep, the dial on the right does the exact opposite of what it's pointing at. The dial itself comes off easily enough, but will only attach that way round, it won't go back on the 'correct' way round. Ah well. At least I know what it's doing now. The Reverend Bluejeans

The Reverend Bluejeans
That's the badger. My recent purchased 323i is without a/c, and has black leathers - it's going to be like a Belgian trucker's armpit come the summer.
Supernaut
That's the badger. My recent purchased 323i is without a/c, and has black leathers - it's going to be like a Belgian trucker's armpit come the summer. I'm in Scotland, don't need to worry about heat! I've been driving it around with the sunroof open as much as possible recently, it's so nice! Almost a convertible, but not quite.
320touring
I find E36 coupes get bloody warm quickly - sunroof to tilt is pretty much default. But then again, Ahm a fat hairy cunt... Jim Bell, mrbenn and Supernaut
Supernaut
I decided to make an attempt at sorting the comedy screenwash nozzles. The left-hand one was being a right fud, annoying considering it's the genuine new BMW one! Before: Notice the very left-hand one firing off into space. I don't particularly want screenwash on the roof, thanks. A bit of fettling netted this: Still not perfect, but slightly better. The very furthest left one can just do what it wants then. On a side note; my phone seems to record quite decent video. Perhaps I should get some free video editing software and do something with that. I also have magic lantern installed on my Canon DSLR camera, which is apparently rather good for video. I should definitely do... something. Not sure what though. Supernaut
The best* part is that one of the failures on the first MOT attempt was because the passenger side screen washer was providing insufficient fluid. It passed on the second attempt, so the new washer is definitely providing sufficient fluid... just not in the right direction. Jim Bell
Supernaut
Very very very minor update. Found the grub screw on the gear selector. Tightened it. No more wibbly wobbly t-handle. Nice solid action now. Good. rantingYoof, Split_Pin and The Reverend Bluejeans

Supernaut
I woke up stupidily early this morning. Not on purpose! Was ready to go at half 6, so I did. Having a coffee in Lauder in the borders. I hit a milestone earlier in glen shee. This thing is a brilliant cruiser. Sunroof open, radio set just so (fader slightly to the front, not too much bass) cruise control set to NSL.
