If he's spending a grand I'd say for minimum agg, something common enough that parts are easy to find and shows signs of being looked after. Don't fall for the usual thing of getting the lowest mileage car or he newest you can find. Buy on condition and buy with your eyes open.

I'd rather jam my testicles in a vice, but even that would be preferable to a Corsa D.

 

I'll tell you no lies: I took my wife to work in my son's 130,000 mile Corsa D Friday night (as I'm using it for a while) and do you know what she said? 'It's a long time since you've had a car so smooth and nice as this'. More of a keeper than Gordon Banks that one.
