pogweasel
I have seen that Commer Cob before, it was making deliveries in Peckham. RESTECP. Cracking pics, Bromley is always one I want to do but can't bear the idea of the [reputedly] total gridlock that surrounds it all weekend long. dollywobbler
Fiddlesticks. Judging by those photos, there's a hell of a lot of Bromley that I didn't see! Not long back home after an achey drive in the Mini. That CX six-wheeler is very cool. Your new CX isn't exactly short is it? An extra axle must make it huuuuuuuge.I got to the park at half eight. No traffic at all, though I still lead a convoy of classics at one point. My colleagues arrived in Bromley at around half nine, and took almost an hour to get to the stand! garycox
I went to Bromley today and it was good, bit pricey but lots to see for classic and shite fans. Sadly I was mostly looking round the MGBs as my dad wants one (both the chrome bumpered ones in the for sale bit were awful though, and he didn't like the nice white rubber bumpered one) Any way I was not expecting to see this!! I was wandering round the one make area and when I spotted this about 5 rows away I immediately panicked and ran towards it grinning as if it was about to run away! It's my favourite car. The one I would most like to own. And I will, one day. It was in my family from 1972 when my uncle bought it until 2000 when my dad sold it with 27,000 miles on it because he needed the money. I've wanted it back ever since but I lost track of it in about 2003. It's changed hands again twice since then, but apart from the addition of a CD player, aerial and speakers it's the same as when we sold it 9 years ago, it had just turned 37,000 miles today. I didn't get a chance to speak to the owner, I couldn't even leave a note, I waited around for as long as I could but I was dragged away in the end. It came as a shock to see it today, and has reminded me how much I want it back. I was actually very sad that I had to leave it there and it couldn't come home with me, and that even if the owner wanted to sell there's no way I could afford it. But I will have it back someday, I just hope he keeps it exactly as it is, how I remember it. I'm getting quite emotional typing this, so I'll stop now. r.welfare
That Sunbeam is a Cheetah, I've heard of them but never even seen a picture of one before- extremely rare.Dealer special by Charters of Aldershot. A sort-of Group 1 spec 1600 I believe that pre-dated the Ti by a couple of years...amazing to see one still around. I have a road test of it in a 1978 issue of "Motor Sport" somewhere in the loft.Charters did similar things with the Samba Rallye and the 205 GTI 1.6/1.9 as well, which I think were also badged as "Cheetahs". I did some work there once, they had all the (yellowing) press cuttings stuck to one of the office walls.
