Located in Bromley BR5. I've advertised it elsewhere for £200, mostly because nobody takes you seriously when you offer something for free, but I'm not interested in the money, I just need it gone and I don't want to have to call the council to take it away. It's likely to be rotten as a pear and will need everything doing. Mexico brown 2000 SC Auto (the really slow one), was in tired but running order when I put it away in 2002 but sadly the garage it lives in is very damp indeed. I know where it's been since it left the factory in 1973. It's complete but partially dismantled and comes with some spares. The photos were taken this summer. I apologise for the quality - and I'd be the first to scroll past if I saw photos this poor - but I have no means to get the car out of the garage as the brakes are bound on and I can't start the engine because the fuel tank and radiator are out. You will need to bring a truck or van with a car trailer, or a car transporter with a trailer for the spares, and some muscle. No problem at all, keep in touch and it's yours if it's still available by then. It's in my mum's garage and she's started thinking about moving, which is why it needs to go, but she's got a lot of other things going on at the moment so I'd be very surprised if she starts seriously looking in the near future. I was intending to get it restored when I put it away but never had the time or money... it would have been a fairly light resto back then, but the garage is really very damp indeed. Good to hear you like the autos, they're sneered at by traditional P6 club types but I think it suits the car quite well! I like cars that you can sit back and waft along in. Previously it was with a view to making it driveable and MOT-worthy again, but like many things, life in general gets in the way, and I really do not have the time for doing restoration work, even for myself these days, never mind for anyone else. That said, when it comes to dragging it out, I *really* want to see what it's like!I’m hoping to get something in place in the next few weeks...if I could be confident of freeing the brakes off in situ, I’d bring the truck down but with a beavertail, loading is somewhat complicated if the wheels don’t turn.The alternative is a tilt bed trailer belonging to one of the farmers in the village but my XC90 tow vehicle is currently chucking its gearbox toys out of the pram when it gets warm. Replacement solenoids are available from the states which should cure it but if not, I’ll need something sizeable to tow the trailer as it’s a bloody big twin axle job. Talbot Posted January 7, 2018 Share Posted January 7, 2018 Having seen the garage this resides in, you'll need to be slim to get in to free the brakes off.. it's a remarkably small concrete sectional garage from the 50's/60's and there's very little gap between the car and the wall. Easiest thing to do would be to drag it out with something big and heavy, and maybe 4x4 with low box, and do anything else to it once it's out in the open. The problem then is if I can’t free the brakes off sufficiently in situ to drag it up the alloy ramps onto the bed, I’m a bit stuck whereas the winch on the tilt bed is a weedy hand operated thing but with being a tilt, it will drag on with stuck brakes a bit easier. If it was anything else, I’d be confident of just freeing off a stuck handbrake and winching it up but aren’t these inboard brakes on the back? Having seen the access available on Conrad’s, I’m not sure what a job it may be out on someone’s mum’s driveway. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
