Cavcraft 2k18... Alto Passo Testo

Yeah no worries, chief, will keep you posted. If her old is a 1.7 and cheap (assuming she wants to sell) I'd possibly be interested.

It’s properly fooked mate, I am in the process of working on it but it’s deader than a dead thing. As I am stupid and like wasting money it will probably become my next project as I have a soft spot for them for some unfathomable reason.

The one I had was clearly shit in comparison to all the ones you lot had. I would get to a particular hill on the A9 and start at the bottom at 80 and by the top I would be doing 60 at best. Even the Morris Minor could do better on that hill.

Not the ideal vehicle to be doing at least 30,000 miles a year in and one of the main reasons I left that job.

I could have posted that word for word, A9 experience included.

T54 SEV, a non-turbo ex-Post Office red one. Very reliable starter but dangerously slow acceleration. Ok at steady speed obv, once saw nearly 90 on a long downhill, but down to about 50 or less on a long climb regardless of gear it was in. Good in snow. Plastic doorhandles and Mickey Mouse locks always fucked.

I liked it at the time and it got worked hard, but the lack of a side door was a PITA in a daily working van. When I tidied it out to scrap it I found stuff I thought I'd lost about 3 years previously. A guy bought mine to use only around the fields on a large pig farm and he ran it for a few years with no exhaust.

Almost 10 years later I wouldn't mind a good one as just a daily runaround. Basic and easy to work on, a bit in the spirit of the old Morris Minor vans.

S469 VOB, like bub said didn't matter if it was empty or full always seemed to pull at the same pace.

Regular 50mpg from it on my trips to stow and back from Dudley.

Due to how slow it actually was you had to really plan your next move on the motorway,

I'd say we'll bought.

Escort van getting collected this week, meantime in one of those 'it'd be rude not to' situations, I've just bought another Puma which I've not seen in the flesh. I was chasing another one (that I wanted a lot more) but the seller's demands were too much, so I had to sack it off. Plus, I couldn't travel today due to last night's drinking.

Anyhow, here's number three...

...actually, I was chasing another one again, (one of those 'black edition' ones) but it was 250 miles away or something, so as cheap as it was it would have been too expensive with recovery back here.

Have you had one of these with the 1.6 zetec? I always wondered the difference between that and the 1.7.

Is that the same engine as the Escort? Never a big fan of them to be honest, plus these 1.7s just seem to want to go on revving forever. The great news is they're getting rarer by the minute, everyday seems to bring more people breaking them for parts. Next up (on the want list) is a Millennium version, but cheap ones only come up when I don't have any money.

The windscreen thing is fantastic, they really got that right to be fair to them.

The daily one has a strutbrace and corners brilliantly, only really wants to let go if there’s been a lot of rain and you overdo it on roundabouts.

Seriously. If you get offered a cheap one when skint, let me know. After reading Moogs adventures, I'm getting the itch for another, and a Milly would be perfect.

Been sitting on the knowledge this was for sale for a week or so now, as couldn't arrange a mutual time with vendor. Anyhow, went to see it this morning and couldn't wait as it was (seemingly) cheap and just up my street, so to speak. It was also within a gnat's pork sword of where I got that lovely Mk1 Cavalier from.

I cannot fault the seller, the pictures he supplied (not the above or below) flattered it and he did say it was really bad. But who doesn't love a challenge?

Hmm, pedal detached from floor? Not good start

It was sat on some modern rims that weren't included, and try as we did we couldn't find a reason to buy it. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll send you his details, he's after £250 for it and it's not that far from Chester.

Like I say he was honest about the car, so it's no complaint from me.

An HC, my mum had one when I was growing up. I recall it being sodding massive & the 1.3 rather lost under the bonnet. I found out how lost when I spent a day (aged about 6) sat on the cross member washing the bell housing out when dad put a new engine in it.

My dad had a HB 1.3 sal. 2door

Doing a puncture fix I noticed a big cast iron blob - like a tadpole - was fitted on the axle.. ???

They change the vibration/patter/deflection characteristics of the axle, usually to fix a design cock-up or a problem discovered during pre-production testing.  A variation on the same theme are the weighty rings often seen on the front wheels of HGVs and rather clever mass dampers as fitted to the rear arms of early Citroen 2cvs.

Well past restoring and couldn't find anything to add up to £250. Even if just the doors had been ok I'd have stuck a bid on it, but the only things I could see that could be saved were the dashboard clocks, the grille and maybe the front bumper.

That Viva does look a bit grim.  From the floor, I'd say that it has rotted out through being damp and full of water.  I'm probably the only Viva owner on this forum and don't really want another one but I'm on various groups and stuff if the owner would like it publicised.  They're not that popular, but have a following and are increasingly sought after for modified cars probably as rear wheel drive with loads of space under the bonnet.  Frankly if someone is prepared to save that, they should be allowed to modify it.
