Pillock
When I was a kid, I got in trouble for 'breaking' the indicators on my dad's Hillman Hunter. Frustrated at not being able to use the indicators while pretending to drive, I used the hazards instead. Only problem was, I hadn't quite turned them off all the way. With the switch jammed, the indicators didn't work, which took my dad quite a long time to discover. He wasn't best pleased... For reasons I don't really understand, I pressed the hazard switch whilst a passenger in my mum's Mk3 Astra. They flashed, as expected. I pressed it again when she told me to pack it in. The button did not latch back in. They kept flashing. We drove for about half an hour with me holding the button in before she relented and pulled over into a layby so we could retrieve a bit of card out the boot and wedge it in the switch. puddlethumper
I've been having problems with my old 305 van over the last 3 months. Injector pump problems. Original pump suddenly stopped working. Took it to a specialist who told me it had seized and was fucked.Looked like it could take a while to sort so bought the ex knob van to carry on working.Got a pump from a scrappy that turned out to be fucked as well. Took it back and got another that lasted about 2 weeksbefore it started to leak. Bloody hell ! Immediately put off another from a scrapyard.Meanwhile the knobvan started playing up. Master brake cylinder fucked. Shit !Rummaging on Fleabay I noticed an ad for a reconditioned Bosch pump for a 305/309 from a companythat was a Bosch pump specialist, for £225 or offers. Offers ay ? Gave them a bell and pointed out the fact that 305's were somewhat thin on the ground and according to howmanyleft.com, an obviously reliable source, there were only 23 diesel 305's on the road, and the chance of flogging one, at 225, was highly unlikely, I offered 150. After a brief pause I was told this would be acceptable, if cash was involved, to which I agreed. The company had a unit in Swadlincote so to save time waiting for it to be sent, and as it was a bit less than an hour away I decided to go get it. Had a good look at it and had pics of my one and everything looked spot on. One hundred and fifty beer tokens were exchanged. As I don't have the skills to fit something like this I entrusted it to my old school tame mechanic, Dave Taylor, Silverend Ind Est, Brierley Hill, highly recommended, who, after getting to the point of getting it in there found that it didn't fit. The neck going through the housing was too short to get the pulley wheel on. Fuckandbollixandshit !! At this point I'm probably down about 120. Took it back, along with the one I had, to show them theirs was not from a 305 to which this was agreed and a refund would be given. Unfortunately they didn't have the cash to give me and said they quite often come down Brum way and would give me a ring. A week later I get a call saying it could be a while before they are down my way but if I wanted to come and pick it up it would be there. Brilliant ! I spend another couple of hours and fuel, again, to go and get it.So, at this point it's going to cost me £140 to get back £150 because their advert was wrong. Great !! Am I being naive in thinking that a Bosch pump specialist should know what their pumps go on ? Seems I am.Went back and pointed this out, and the cost to me. Did they give a fuck ? No.So, Swadlincote Diesel Services are not recommended. Now I've got the leaky one at a specialist and is going to take a week and £200 to sort. Looks like no work for a week unless anyone has a use for a transportless carpenter, or a heap I could rent/borrow.The knobvan will be for sale by the look of it. Spears and reapers. If anyone is interested let me know.I iz pissed off ! alcyonecorporation
DodgeRover
Would one from a 205/ Xantia/ BX fit or are they the ones with the short neck? Can't you cobble one van together out of the 2 to keep you mobile and earning?

Soon as I started reading your post and I saw there name I knew it wouldn't be good. Knuckle Draggers springs to mind. They know how to charge mind as there owner owns a Bentley! Hope the other specialist sorts your pump out ok. I had a leaky cover plate on my 205 1.8 TD back in 2004 and that cost me £300 alone just to repair the seal so £200 sounds pretty reasonable. Hope you get both 305 Van's sorted out as you just don't see them anymore. I'd be happy to lend you our Fiorino Van but knowing my luck it's bound to suddenly break! egg
I'm very proud* that the world's last* remaining Penza is on a Kent (Maidstone) plate... I wonder who the supplying dealer was? Edit: Sao were based at 77 Mount Ephraim, Tunbridge Wells, Kent - which may give a clue to the plate. Shep Shepherd and trigger

Shep Shepherd
Fitted a 21st century stereo to The Volvo this afternoon. It's not totally 21st century, though, as it has a CD player: Only took a minute to install (ISO connectors FTW), but will most likely take rather longer to set-up correctly. I've already got it to work with my DAB adaptor, which is good

puddlethumper
Master brake cylinder on knobvan shouldn't be too hard to sort.Unfortunately its not the only thing it needs. The pump also started to leak. Personally I'd put a better engine in it. For the cost of pump replacement, I paid £60 from scrappy and I had to take it back coz fucked and replacement started to leak in a couple of weeks, master cylinder and a cambelt kit, needs it, for a somewhat tired engine that on 160000 has about had it, I don't think it's worth the repairs. Nine years ago mine was on about the the same mileage and was in the same condition so I got a better lump.If anyone is up for taking it on I'm up for getting rid. All the welding was done by the FOAD fella and it looks tidy. Mot till next Feb/Mar, can't remember exactly. Would need trailering. What spec, it looks damn tidy & even my rough old starship mileaged one is a great car. It's an Aero and is pretty tidy. It has an awful misfire (hoping plugs or fuel filter but probably coil cassette) and back suspension is fucked but seems pretty sweet otherwise and only 134000 miles.
