A lot..  almost fell over TBH.

I was driving home, trembling a bit ,(  as me cambelt is  on 100k , but i don't need to worry if it snaps now ) looking at other peoples cars thinking

"After i've paid off my credit card ,  I could have a car like that.."  and

" I could buy a Miele  vacuum....give Beko my Sebo"  and

"I wonder how many houses i could buy in Bulgaria ?"...   :-D

"You and me, we've always been good friends, haven't we?  Only, there's this thing..."

Moving to Bulgaria may well avoid this conversation with people that hear of your good fortune but only vaguely know who you are.

You've gone soft in the head. (I know you said "could", but that's a slippery slope)

Even if I one the Euromillions, I'd never be looking at other people's cars thinking "I could have a car like that..." Wouldn't enter my head. Last time I accidently ran into some cash after my Great Uncle Honda passed away I went out and bought a rough Volvo 343 with 1/26th of the proceeds and did a collection holiday in it.

Turns out I wasn't hearing things back at Christmas- haven't seen any more red cardinals in the yard but the screech of a bird of prey turns out to have been a bald eagle, which buzzed the car on the way home, flapping furiously to gain some height over the road, carrying a fish.
Really rare to see them around here, iconic bird.

Dunno if this is a grump or a grin but this morning started out with the air conditioning on in the house, this evening the heating is switched on. A drop of nearly 20c in 12 hours and the forecast says by Tuesday is going to be -4 so the fruit trees are all covered up again looking like the bushes along the side of the M4 near London, all covered in plastic bags blowing in the wind

Those are the ones you want.

And agreed, I've read it before and up until then had never thought how coming into a substantial sum of dosh could be a bad thing. Did enjoy this quote...

Even Whittaker's good-faith generosity was questioned. When he offered $10,000 to improve the city's water park so that it was more handicap accessible, locals complained that he spent more money at the strip club. (Amusingly this was true).

Pleased for you Christine. Spend it shitely :)

Mirror switch was a bit reluctant to make the mirrors move through the full range on the R75. Quick look on the interweb.

10 mins later fully functioning mirrors! I also have a spare switch that has now been cleaned and that was taken from the R75 that borked itself on the collection. That gave £120 from the scrappers by the way. That was a most profitable buyage.

I'm dead late to the party with Mighty Car Mods but I've spent this evening watching some of their videos. This one in particular I enjoyed:

I know they polarise opinion on the internet but I enjoy their show. Fake stick on "brembos", shitty aftermarket seats, cutting a lump off of the FMIC you aren't going to plumb in .... and a driveway paintjob - what's not to love.

ETA: And part 2. Highlights include a rollcage built out of "white carbon fibre" - aka PVC pipe sprayed black - "stronger than steel".

Been a dry weekend here so a few interesting motors out and about today.  Oldest I saw was a pre-war Austin 16, favourite was a 1972 Lotus Elan with a rorty exhaust which was being driven in a very spirited manner round a roundabout and then off up the new northern bypass.

The northern bypass is quite good fun at the moment too - it's not open all the way yet so is a bit pointless from a "bypassing the city" point of view, but that does mean that it's a stretch of brand new and very sparsely trafficked dual carriageway, and thus one of the very few roads in north Norfolk where one can get a proper move on.  I took full advantage of it and the 205's newfound ability to drive in a straight line this evening and found that the Pug will happily wind up to quite some speed, although the brakes are probably best described as "adequate".

Shed at the bottom of our garden is rotten, it's at least 20 years old if aerial photos are owt to go by. I've made jokes to people about how it's not as tall as it used to be. It's knackered but the mrs won't let me replace it because it "looks fine to her and we're moving soon anyway"

There's some old kitchen worktop screwed around it as a shelf - a few years back I stuffed an old freezer under it out of the way cos the mrs didn't want to skip it.

Today I decided she'd finally forgot about it so I went to get it out, and the fuckin thing was wedged solid! I managed to pry it out with spade and when it slipped out from under the worktop the whole shed dropped about 2", the glass in the window cracked and and the door (at the opposite end) wedged itself shut so I had to kick my way out.

There's some kind of animal been living back there, by the size of the turds its left I'd say it's either a terrifyingly massive rat or a normal sized rat that only eats guinness and bricks.

Had forgotten this one until someone referenced it in conversation a couple of days ago.

Didn't half make me grin when one of my hobbies crossed paths with daytime TV a year or so back (This Morning I think it was, or some equally woeful waste of air-time) which I only heard about by pure random chance, so was able to watch.

Didn't half make me grin when the guy who was co-presenting it decided to try to have a few cheap laughs at the expense of who he was interviewed - only to discover that who he was speaking to had patently had prior experience in dealing with the media, so they were ready for it.  As a result it didn't work.

In fact, all it did was make the presenter look like a complete moron - and he patently had absolutely no idea how to deal with someone who wasn't going to react to their baiting, meaning they actually had to resort to intelligent conversation.
