Carlosfandango
Personally, I think it looks great without the wheel trims. But, that's just a personal thing.Bloody great motor these. CFD

CanaryinManc
Hi Bub,This is my first ever post, but I've been following yours and others on the site for a few days now.Just wanted to congratulate you on your Pug 406 buy. I had a 2.0 Petrol saloon back in the day and it was a great car, much better put together than the 405 that preceded it. Unfortunately it met its end one heatwave summer day, when, after a brisk drive from Manchester to my brother's birthday bash in Banbury, I parked it on his paddock whereupon the exhaust downpipe set light to the dry grass which in turn set fire to the engine bay. Tried to drive it off but the electrics were already burnt out so ended up pushing it off the fire and being transported back to Manc with the burnt out remains the next day.Does this make me a suitable Autoshiter? Hendry
Seats are really comfy but oddly no arm rests. Weird spec as it's got digital climate, sunroof, full leccy windows etc but no armrests or alloys. I think alloys have been lost! It looks like a GLX? If so, no alloys, I remember them with wheeltrims and steelies, GLX didnt get alloys until the 1999 facelift I dont think, same with 306s, infact same with most French stuff of the time, high trim level, high spec and loads of toys but no alloys, remember a lot of 206, 306, 406, Saxo, Xsara, Xantia, Megane and Laguna being the same, where a lot of the Ford and Vauxhall stuff didnt have half the toys of the French cars but had alloys, much lower down the trim levels. I think it wouldve/shouldve had these trims originally:
paulplom
The non working rear wiper will more than likely be the actual motor. I've just changed the motor in my 2005 v70. The squirter was leaking onto it internally and it must of seized.

I've always hated alloy wheels; completely impractical for round here where the narrow Victorian terrace streets have brutal stone setts which scratch alloy wheels to buggery if you park too close. Also why make them convex so the wheels stick out beyond the tyre and so big with rubber band tyres that stuff ride comfort? CanaryinManc
Welcome along, please make an introduction post about yourself and your cars. We don't bite! Shit, sad way for your pug to go was that! Thanks. Can't see a specific introduction thread so I'll do it here. I'm retired (from public transport planning) , likewise my Aussie wife from Pharmacy and we live in South Manchester with our almost 18 year old daughter who's currently studying for 'A' levels this Summer and learning to drive - Saxo (see below) bearing up well so far. Current fleet is 1953 Austin A40 Somerset with on-going head gasket issues - am about to try a solid copper gasket but broke the fuel pump to carb pipe putting it back together - got one on order from owners club spares barn; 1997 Citroen Saxo and 2017 Pug 308SW. Recent past cars also have a French theme: Pugs 309, 405, 406; Citroen C5 x 2 (one of each body style - both with hydropneumatic suspension).Longer ago; I've had a 123E Anglia, Viva HB, Triumph 2000 Mk2, Renault 12L (the super basic model), Alfasud 1.5, Rover 2600 SD1 (to over 150k miles) and Escort 1.3. Interestingly the 308 develops the same 130 bhp from a 1.2 Litre 3 cylinder Turbo that the previous 2009 C5 Tourer needed 2 litres for (both petrol). Hope that doesn't mean the 308's going to go bang the day after the warranty expires. chaseracer, Carlosfandango, mercedade and 1 other

bub2006
Well the pug is in the garage having two new tyres. Both plenty of tread but 1 is 15 year old and the other is 17. Following up with being different size to front. Looks like the rear calipers may need a strip and clean too. My welders please speak up as I've a religious sill! On another note the idle is a bit lumpy past few days. Fluctuate between 100 and 750. Drives ok but slower speed it can be felt. Chucked some diesel injector cleaner in it and will service it very soon.

Noel Tidybeard
oh yes if it has the drop down immobiliser the wires will break where the thing hinges down (TADTS) so the unplugging ritual is prolly gonna be a good idea if not already done somewhatfoolish
bub2006
This hasn't got the drop down pad on this. A question for the Peugeot/Citroen folks though. The stop light still comes on occasionally. No other warning lights and all fluids are fine. Also the cooling fan will come on at high speed for a few seconds and turn it off in a cycle. It's as if it's a mind of its own. If it's a dicky sensor for temperature will it cause the light to come on? It's got a bit of a lumpy idle too which I've read can also be caused by temperature sensor.

bub2006
Go have a word with yourself. In other news service is taking place but not exactly to plan. Oil drained fine. Can't get my oil filter wrench on the oil filter, the air box screws have corroded and cant get a purchase on them and the fuel filter is the wrong size. I've called a friend to come round and give me a hand.
