Split_Pin
The only reason I know how much fuel has cost me is because I do the same journey in the Megane every weekday so I was able to narrow down the monthly cost to £60 after a bit of trial-and-error. stephen01
No idea what the CRV has cost me over the last 5 years and 65k. I could probably work it out, average mpg etc but I'm happy with my 6.5k purchase exactly 5 years ago..

HMC
I remember an early 90s CAR edition with a bunch of classics on the front " the truth about old cars" They did a bit of cost per mile number crunching on a selection of their own vehicles, an interesting read as ever, but painful to write I'd imagine. I try to avoid too much number crunching if I can avoid it.

Anthony
Quick guess at the costs involved with my 306 HDi daily that I bought 4 years ago Purchase price = £420 Tax = ~£900 Insurance = ~£700 MOT = £100 Fuel = £6553 Servicing, repairs etc = £700 as a guess? Total = £9373 Mileage covered in my ownership = 67500 I work that out to be about 13.9p per mile, assuming for simplicity that the car has zero value now. Some of the numbers are probably a little out as I didn't go through the receipts, but they are certainly in the right ballpark. Repair wise, it's not needed much really given the mileage involved, and what it has needed has all been done by me thus negating one of the biggest costs - namely labour. Seeing the size of the fuel costs compared to everything else is eye-opening though...

Split_Pin
Just base your calculations on the build date of 1964 or whatever. Should work out cheaps.
