pogweasel
Soz for the interruption to service - Any techy bods understand what cabling I need to connect my computer to my telly? The telly is one of these whizzo new 'HDMI' affairs. Doesn't appear to be an HDMI thing on the computer though (one with an S and a pic of a telly, one with a symbol at bit like |[]| and one which has I0I0I next to it). The sudden idea of big-screen autoshite to share with the family fills me with delight.
Volksy
I have one connected to my telly, you just need a VGA cable, which goes from your Monitor port of your PC in to the back of the TV, if you TV has HDMI, its should have a VGA socket.Edit: I remember they were doing them cheap in spASDA the other day. Richard
You should be able to use the one from your existing monitor.
Pillock
They're usually captive on monitors, wire straight out the back with the plug on the end. Only expensive ones have plugs both ends and a removable cable. But yeah 95% of tellies with HDMI also have a VGA port - often blue, always trapezoidal with 15 connections in three rows of five. Your computer will also have one.Make a note of which sex it is. The computer will have a female socket so you need a male plug on one end of the cable. The TV might have either male or female, they never seemed to standardise it. If it looks the same as the PC one then you need a male-male cable, if it has pins instead of holes you need male-female (also sold as an extension lead).Just like nature, males have sticky-out bits and females have the corresponding holes. Pillock
Failing that, ask for an S-video lead and you can use the round one on the PC marked S-> and the corresponding one on the TV which will often be on the 'front AV' sockets bedind a flap.Won't be as good quality though and you might have to chuff around with settings on the TV and PC to get an image that doesn't make you go down to specsavers for a checkup.
