Matt
Part of me wants to buy/win this at roffle and do a road trip back up to Scotland in mid-December. The other half is telling that part to do one while shouting hypothermia hypothermia hypothermia. Want.
SiC
I reckon a pair of leather Focus ST170 seats would not only look good but also being leather, practical too.
D Spares & Tyres
Most Ford coils of that era were 9 volt. Not sure if fitting a 12 would cause an issue. Nice 'jeep' by the way primeradoner

Stanky
It is roughly like your picture. I'd better meter the resistance to check that there is a decent chance of it working first. You over this way sometime? (By the way, I'm convinced that the Zafira fault is the AFM as I can't get it over 2.9 volts even at 5K rpm, so I have a new one to collect tomorrow, a proper one as everyone says you have to buy decent). Thanks L_R - yes should be over your way soon. Let me know when is good and I can bring the laptop and Delphi with me and we can measure the things on the Zafira when you've fitted the new AFM. dome
I used the Polo radiator in my Locost, replacing a modified Ford Consul radiator which I've just chucked out Here's the dimensions and hose locations-see if it'll work for you. You will need a seperate header tank for this one. You may find these guys useful. https://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/hoses-and-clips Stanky
Stanky
rats, size-wise it'd be perfect but ideally i'm after one with the inlet on the top right and outlet on the bottom left. Any other suggestions?
kinkersaab
Would this recycled platic stuff not abe a good replacment for wood? is in even in the rightish blue. https://www.kedel.co.uk/recycled-plastic-sheet/HDPEST0108.html?keyword=&matchtype=&network=g&device=c&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8_Pzn-iB2AIVo7DtCh2YkQceEAYYAiABEgKJ0vD_BwE
Stanky
Yeah it would be perfect I suspect - however £340.00 for a 1.2 x 2.4m sheet which I suspect I'd need. Would last forever though. And I could have it in blue for added win.
stephen01
Another potential bonus, my father-in-law's Mk1 focus is being dragged away for scrap at some point soon, I should be able to swap the kippered Bosch battery onto it and nick whatever (functioning) battery it has on it currently as an emergency spare. its not a 037 one but if it'll hold charge I can at least turn this engine over by careful application of 12v to the starter motor when we have a coil to try. Can't you nick a few other bits? fantastic thread - hopefully you'll see some use out of this.
mitsisigma01
If you used the 6mm sheet only £104 and you could slam it down on the arches by a massive 13mm !!! Stanky

Mally
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-RADIATOR-TO-FIT-FORD-ESCORT-1600-MK2-/251176118590 Bit expensive, but if you sell me the back axle you would have a tenner spare.
mitsisigma01
Have you got the dimensions of your current rad ?? Or do you know for sure what it is from ??
Mally
Current rad very likely to be Escort, if wheel studs are imperial, Mk1, if metric Mk2Tend to use all the bits from same car. eddyramrod
AlabamaShrimp
Again I can't say what others already haven't. I really like that you are fixing what's there instead of changing the whole chassis. I'd would keep the seats from that Focus just incase. I'd be interested in the Fiesta seats if you want rid of them my mk1 seats don't adjust...
danthecapriman
Hmmm, the radiator does look Escort, and in that case a Capri radiator shouldn't be too far different. So, do you want to try my Capri radiator for size? I'm planning on getting a new rad anyway, possibly one of the upgraded ones with extra tubes as it'll look much better in my rebuilt shell. The old radiator that came off the car is perfectly fine, no corrosion, leaks or damage. I could bring it over if you want, even if it's just offered up to see if it'll fit but I'm pretty confident it will. eddyramrod
Stanky
The current rad is about 19" across - and about 14" high. Dan, yes if thats OK - even if we could just offer it up for size that'd be excellent. eddyramrod and danthecapriman

trigger
After reading this thread I've also started checking the small ads at the local Tescos, sadly we don't have anything as exotic for sale. tapir, garethj, Exiled_Tat_Gatherer and 13 others
lisbon_road
The coil is available anytime. Regarding voltage, if Fords used cold starts with a ballast resistor like Vauxhalls of the period, then I would suggest wiring out the resistor and running the 12 volt coil all the time. The cold start system certainly helped them start, but it didn't help them run as the ballast resistor (In my opinion) requires more current across the points which is never a good idea. Anyway, you could just hot wire it to 12 volts and see what happens. I'll go and get the coil out now and check I can actually find it. (I picked up the new MAF today. If the Zaf recovers, I won't be too fussed about analysing it - if it doesn't, I sure will. But I'd be interested in seeing if your software will talk to my oldest Astra which is pre OBD2). dollywobbler
Great stuff.
