BoscoRaceAdjustment
Since the start of November I have been searching for a new tow vehicle. After having little luck within my low budget and high expectation. I jumped at cheap 1.9td 405 advertised on the owners club Facebook. A after chatting with the lad and getting a few photos of the v5, I cautiously sent over a deposit. Collection day came and I met the guy at a station in the suburbs of west Birmingham. After a short wait the 405 rolled into car park. The young lad jumped out along with piles of rubbish and paper. He apologised for being late and for not clearing out the car. He reassured me it had been owned by a mechanic it whole life, I believe him........ the interior was trashed! All the trim was present however it was scrambled over the floors or installed in the boot. I quickly ran the car through all the gears tested the lights and break. fingers crossed it would make the run back down to London. <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/78135609@N03/27011120219/in/dateposted-public/"title="405"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4548/27011120219_9232d3183d_k.jpg" width="2048" height="1536" alt="405"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/78135609@N03/23921658307/in/dateposted-public/"title="405"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4579/23921658307_81e2c7ba94_k.jpg" width="2048" height="1536" alt="405"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Grinning ear to ear I finally understood the 405s appeal. The 1.9td engine is smooth and powerful, with the added fun introduced by the turbo at 2500rpm The chassis is wonderful. and apart from the missing trim the interior is functional and pleasant to be in. As soon as I arrived back in London I had her washed inside and out. <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/78135609@N03/23921658237/in/dateposted-public/"title="405"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4576/23921658237_af3db38fdb_k.jpg" width="2048" height="1536" alt="405"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> However the journey home did reveal some problems. It seems that my 405 has 2 seed fan set up. motorway driving kept her cool but as approached London the stop and start style driving saw the temp rise quite high. My first job was to roadkill style wire the fans to run continuously. <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/78135609@N03/38069854814/in/dateposted-public/"title="405"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4515/38069854814_308f047bea_k.jpg" width="2048" height="1536" alt="405"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Heres the 405 at work with me suppling a sound system to a shop on carnaby street. <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/78135609@N03/27011119669/in/dateposted-public/"title="405"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4576/27011119669_75581ede9f_k.jpg" width="2048" height="1536" alt="405"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> However I leave my job next week. I have been working as an audio technician at a local music venue. unfortunately the venue lost is licence and i will be returning to freelance. As a young driver in London insurance is very expensive and i can only justify run my van. So i offers you the good people of auto shite a 405 <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/78135609@N03/27011118999/in/dateposted-public/"title="405"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4520/27011118999_835827667e_k.jpg" width="2048" height="1536" alt="405"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> The car is 98 1.9td GLX MOT till March 2018165000 milesgood tyrestow barlumbar pump on drivers seat electronic high lamp position dial great engine does smoke on startup if left a few days gearbox and breaks good I payed very little for the car and don’t expect much back. but i do need to remove it from my policy as soon as possible £
bramz7
How bad is the interior? Are we talking massive pile of broken bits or just wear? I'm tempted as i liked both the 405s I had, but don't want something utterly mashed inside. Also need to check insurance....

Talbot
If anyone needs the glass for this, I have the back end of a 405 cut off, with good glass both sides. I can also cut the glass out and package up/post if wanted. Either that, or if no-one else wants it, I will definitely have this 405 and fit the glass myself. And use the car. bramz7
Even though I have a 405 space on a classic insurance policy and love old diesels I will have to pass on this opportunity, as I will be quite literally in the shit house if I parked this outside.
