davocano
No idea** why GM plonked a Vauxhall badge on these. Perhaps they didn't want to upset/please Les. **It's them mrktng mthrfckrs again yeah? At the other end of the power/cc scale, a Microcar Virgo Prestige SE. Enormous fun or terrifying ordeal? WLD LIKE 2 KNO E280. W124. WLD. They used the cheapest available paint for the Royal Mail production run I'm sure. Oh boy, these have disappeared so fast. A work colleague of mine put nearly 225,000 miles on his before it fell to bits. I had a nice chat with the owner; she bought it in 1970 at which point it had been stored for the previous 24 years. She and her husband restored it and subsequently used it.. and still do. They drove it from London to Argyll in 1998, a journey that took 4 days; of course, no dollywobbler/catsinthewelder-stylee video footage exists. Fortunately I HAZ IMAGINATION. Unrestored since the '70s, the patina is lovely but doesn't really show in this photo, soz. Split_Pin, LightBulbFun, LT84 and 4 others
davocano
It's not all gravy in this spotting game; when experiencing a dry period (much like the grass in some of the following photos), keep an eye out for the more interesting cuts of cheaper meat. I was going somewhere with this butcher-based metaphor but gave up quite quickly, soz. I can't imagine anyone walking into a Honda dealership and demanding a white Pan Euro; it surely must have been employed by one of the Emergency Services in the past. A bodgo repair that works well in these hot summer days but when it eventually rains again, you're gonna need stronger polythene, dude. Also, glass. Mini Mayfair with a Space Invaders motif on the roof. My next camera will have a flip-out screen. Retro-fitted chrome. Vans always, ALWAYS get beaten to death and then they are gone. Take photos of the still living ones for future 'shiters to enjoy. I don't get it. GIRLS & GUITARS? Maybe it's a BRA BUS...? Smart arse? Well this looks miserable. It's also diesel. 75 from the Emerald Isle. E36 in Badermatic 316i spec. Poggy 323F. michael t, Split_Pin, danthecapriman and 4 others
davocano
a change of speed a change of style a change of scene with no regrets The business of spotting can be a bit of a rollercoaster ride; after a week or so in the doldrums, a trip out into the wilds* of Hertfordshire left me feeling refreshed and invigorated. I was very pleased to find this one owner, 56,000 mile Transit with honest patina. 62-year-old Bedford CA that is roadworthy. 48-year-old Roller that isn't. A fresh import perhaps. I wonder what those characters on the plate are stating. A funky early '90s colour this be, IMO. Quest Plus limited edition; this may well be the only one that's still licenced if HML is anything to go by. 3-door 1.3 Popular must be bASe, yeah? DVLA states colour as "Cream" rather than "Beige". Also, it's got only 18,000 miles on the clock. danthecapriman, Austat, vulgalour and 6 others
davocano
The only reason I parked nearby was because I had caught a glimpse of the Mk4 Escort up there. I hadn't noticed this very adjacent RHD (I can't believe I'm typing this...) Citroën LNA 11RE. Skizzer, LT84, vulgalour and 8 others

davocano
"Phew what a scorcher" said the Microcar. "Tu connais rien de l'enfer" replied the grass. Estate car frenzy: Aerodeck is a very cool nom de plume. A couple of Volvo 9s; the red one is a 3-litre hottie. Huge bonnet lip makes me wonder how these Passats keep the temps down; I suspect the designer has the answer. Quite an early Ka in fetching purple and dust. davocano
Before the Elsie, there was the air-cooled RD. Ain't she neat? MGBs are all over the place but it's always nice to find one parked up on the street, particularly when they are limeflower. MG ZRs are all over the place but Express panel van versions are a bit rocking horse. Corolla 1.3 XLi.... om nom nom Shiny Happy Clio (since it got all the welding done underneath). It's a 1.6, it's an LX not bASe but looks like a million Zimbabwean dollars. It's already on my SotY runner-up shortlist. I'd driven past this Camry a few times over the years and always thought "I must stop and take a photo of that one day". So I did and discovered it's not a Camry; it's a Windom. This car spotting lark can be most educational. Skizzer, michael t, danthecapriman and 2 others

davocano
And so the sun sets on the month of July; it's one of those sunsets that is "nice" rather than "spectacular". Another cheap car/expensive plate combo K10s are starting to get a bit thin on the ground and are worth recording. We get the first bit of rainfall in about two months and the owner of this old Jag decides it's time to pop down to Sainsburys. Splendid! And now I have relocated to Wales for a couple of weeks; not a million miles (quite a few miles tho) from Dollywobbler Country as it happens, I will be keeping my eyes peeled for the Mighty Dacia but I'm not holding my breath. davocano
Earlier in the year I found a 2CV next to a broccoli and now I find a Moggy next to a potato. Hmmm. Beach buggy and a golf course. Hmmm. That's a lot of effort going into an MX-5. Hmmm. Whatevs. This rotting and battered Jumbuck gives me the gooeys. Chasing Discreetly following an ADO16, I got distracted and lost sight of my target. While prowling the housing estate it vanished into, I found this Cavalier. What a truly lovely part of the world some of it is. Carmarthen can get in the sea tho; the Pay & Display ticket machines there are a FUCKING UNFUNNY JOKE.
