Renault Safrane. £3 a ticket. ALL NUMBERS GONE. PAYMENT DUE

Brodders

Recommended Posts

It was a very brave car for Renault, they invested a fortune into it and it didn,t sell well in the UK,overseas was much better and it was released in Feb 92 over there a year earlier than UK,i think theres a background interest in Safranes but the problem is finding one,a Phase 1 for sure is in very short supply now, none of the Phase 1 V6s I have owned have had major issues and rust was at a minimum. The build quality was actually very good, they tried but it didn,t pay off......BUY ONE WHILE YOU CAN!

Hands up, who pinched the radio?  I'm sure there was an original Renault unit in there when I had it....

Move along....nothing to see.....

That was part of the gifting deal to brodders from myself, he got the car, the radio somehow has appeared in my Bristol , as it was exactly like the knackered on in there....

Having seen the Bristol, I have to say that it is superb and is an excellent home for the stereo.

Did the stereo go in alright in the end? It took bloody ages to find the code (although I was stupid enough to completely miss the card with it written on it, how the hell was I supposed to know what "Code Electonique" meant?)

I must admit I was quite surprised with how well put together my RN felt. Engine noise was minimal and it handled like a dream too.

They are very smooth and quiet. Although I don't know what the RPM was whilst cruising at 70 mph (non working rev counter) it can't have been more than 2500. It was very nice to be in something so serene compared to the 75, which does well over 3000 rpm at 70 mph.

Anyway, numbers updated for today. We are almost halfway there, so if we keep going at this rate we might be able to have a draw this Saturday.

IF I don't win the Pug 106 roffle, I will have a couple of tickets for this one.  I just don't dare say I'll have them until I'm sure I won't end up with "little and large" lumps of le chod francais littering my back garden.  It already looks like a breakers yard...

I'd have the Safrane myself out of choice. This keeps on coming up for sale, but there are 4 snags:

1) Renault

2) Automatic

3) I'm skint

4) Classic insurers all say NO! (why ffs?)

I have come to the completely logical conclusion that insurance companies do not use a complex set of algorithms or formulae to come up with their insurance quotes, but a mysterious form of black magic that would still provoke lynch mobs in parts of Norfolk and Lincolnshire today. Its the only thing that can explain it.

Here is the updated list.

Talbot, I've added the pair that you said you might want if you didn't win the 106. If you have decided that you don't want them, please let me know and I shall amend the list.

We are over half way there, however I would still like to keep going with this. The PBK Triumph will be here very soon and I would like the space in the garage freed up to make room for it, otherwise this may end up being put outside for a bit.

With regret, I'm afraid I'll have to drop out of the raffle, due a combination of logistics and reality. Sorry about that!  :-(

Where the actual fuck is Stowmarket?

I would like to purchase a single, random ticket as my xmas gift to my poor local Renner licking mechanic,

His name is Nick and he will probably be getting to know my VS well over the next few months.

Might as well chuck a Safrane into the mix as well.

WCPGW?

Slap bang in the middle of Suffolk, which is pretty much in the middle of East Anglia itself.

Pretty easy to get to from London by train (on the mainline) and easy from the midlands by road (is is just off the A14, which itself is just off the M6). Pretty easy for collection capers.

EDIT: If any Scotshiters or other far away persons win, I could possibly pick up from Stansted airport too
