Realisation this isn't going to happen and I just want it gone.

Been a fantastic servant and owned since 2009 but now surplus to requirements and the Mrs really likes the avensis I bought her so I can't see this ever getting back on the road in my ownership.

Major issue right now is that it won't start due to a "start error" fault.

This was caused entirely by myself and my slovenliness. The battery wasn't entirely charged but she did try to turn over, I couldn't be arsed to grab the booster pack add it did turn enough to start to compress but I knocked it off foolishly just as it did. I tried one more time and it went to kick then the battery basically went completely and the dreaded start error appeared on the dash and now it won't turn over at all.

I've been quoted £180 to get it fixed.

I'm happy to get this done first but I will add £200 to the price as it's an unwanted expense.

I would also be prepared to guarantee the engine etc is ok if you have the necessary skills/contacts to get the start error fault fixed at your own expense as I know some people want to hear a car running before committing yet others will take a gamble for a cheap motor.

One or two of the injector copper seals are gone and there's plenty of coal been produced in the injector area, it's been done twice before too varying levels of success, I won't be doing it again (I should say paying to get it done again) as it affects ABSOLUTELY nothing on the car, plus why put a grand into a £1500-£2000 car? I've run it like this for about 5 years now, always starts first time whatever the weather, economy is still around 27-30 mpg around the doors so to me there little wrong in that respect.

She's a tiptronic auto, works fine, but I've never changed the fluid in 200k, make of that what you will, an expert would say it shunts into gear a bit from cold but it always changes fine, never slips, all 4x4 bits work and she's pretty good off road.

I've de-catted it, wish I'd done it on day one, makes an amazing difference, no MOT issues, never even mentioned as an advisory as the cat shapes are still there, just gutted.

I think the rear wiper doesn't work, mirrors are a bit temperamental and annoyingly I painted up a mirror cover which some scum stole along with my brand new wiper blades in Tesco carpark, replacing them with pure dross, fucking prick/prickette.

I replaced the turbo a few years ago after the injector seats were done due to the mechanic** leaving a M6 but under the airfilter when he took the airbox out, great*** result that.

The turbo lasted exactly 12 months and the little pricks working there tried to give me off saying it wasn't replaced in accordance with the warranty.

Being an engineering type I proved the damage was on the machined shaft rather than the brass oil bushes it runs on, their boss agreed and sent me a brand new unit which has done about 30k, again what a difference to drive, boosts really well, vnt bit works great, the engine's on these are excellent, 5cyl timing chain motor, the let down on them is the cdi system but it's not given me huge issues over the years.

I've generally looked after it well in my ownership but I don't have masses of history since my ownership but tons of receipts of that's your kind of thing on a £700 motor.

Obvs no MOT, I've done some work already for it, a top suspension arm, these eat bushes for fun and usually every second MOT needs something replacing, there's still a bit of play in the set up and I think it's inner track rods, about £15 each online, shouldn't be too hard to replace.

It is solid, no major rot, starting to go on the door bottoms now though, full leather still in really good order, majority of electrics work but a few dash lights on as is quite common on these.

Or a decent scanner on it and reset most of them but the abs light came back and it showed a RHS abs sensor high resistance which usually means a broken cable.

I'll confess that I previously repaired* this lamp to pass an MOT which it then did but it was linked to the other bas/esp lights next to it in an electrical way so it is a bodge.

It's an old bus now on a 2000 plate and really unless you're a bit mad or committed will never get much beyond getting through its next MOT but IMO it had to be one of the cheapest derv ml's out there and truthfully is had two FTP'S in my 8 years of ownership, both caused by my meddling.

Probably worth double for breaking and not far off what I'm asking to bridge it.

Oh forgot to say tyres all pretty much perfect.

I'm home on Thursday/Friday and I'll get some snaps up then but it's millennium silver with black cow, NOT a 7 seater add that conversion alone is worth nearly the asking price.

Not advertised anywhere else as I'll just get complete arse-years offering two conkers and a frog.

No swaps as I'm culling everything.

Can't go below £500 on principle that I've still got a lot of emotional attachment to it, is been through so much with us, biggest ups and downs of our lives and it's kept going so it needs a fitting send off. Otherwise I'll genuinely keep it.

Oh and due to the new bullshit dvla system is actually still taxed to get you home booked in for a pre mot of course.

With the immobiliser fixed I'm confident it will get you anywhere in the world, I've certainly been all over Britain in it.

Thanks for reading.

Yes I suspect so. I took some pics before it left and it hadn't suffered any of the major tinworm associated with needs of the era really, so was a shame. But truthfully, even doing the work myself I could have still a grand into it and then had a major part go and been back to square one.

Shame, but you can't save them all.
