Jerzy Woking
I have purchased a new front wing for the Mingebag Mercedes, as the original wing is totally shot, and no amount of gaffer tape will get it through an MOT. The wing cost £40 it looks like it will fit quite well with just a few smacks of a hammer! It's not the thickest gauge steel I've ever come across, so before I fit it, what is the best way to protect the inside from rusting. Not too bothered about the outside of the wing, as I'll just give it a coat of whatever colour paint I can find in my garage, although the black primer (or whatever it is) the wing is finished in looks quite well applied, with no scuffs or scratches. Parky
If it's just a short term fix I would be inclined to just smother it in underbody seal. If you want something longer term, maybe bare metal it, galvafroid primter and topcoat, and then the underbody seal
sierraman
Aerosol of the hilariously named Normfest Bottom Guard. About £6 and you can overpaint it as per Shutz.

New POD
when I had a metro Turbo, the new wings I put on had all that shit black primer removed and zinc primer sprayed all over then gallons of smootrite poured onto the inside until is came out the other side of the seam. Then left to dry and more poured in and left to dry. Then underseal heated up and poured over. then more. Then more zinc primer then high build primer, then white cellulose about 6 times. Then I took the old wings off and realised I needed to drill holes for the body kit, as I'd bought pattern parts for a standard metro, then I tried to fit them and found I needed to file the mounting holes to make it fit. Once it fitted I took them off and touched up all the bare metal, refitted them and then sprayed the outside with cellulose a couple of times more. Then I applied more underseal with a brush. Later a hole appeared in the sill. It went off to Essex in about 1991 after the insurance went silly. I bet the front wings are have survived but the rest of the car is long gone.
