I am dumber than the average bear, but even I am starting to think this whole P38 thing might not be a good idea. It seems that there are either great ones or fucked ones, no middle ground and it only takes a little innattention to turn a former into a latter.

I keep checking ebay UK and there are a few really genuinely nice looking ones in apparent good order for around 2k and I would go up to 3k for a really good one, but its just too much of a risk. This bloody Ranger pickup cost me well over double what I had budgeted by the time i got it transported and bought the parts to fix it and the thought of that happening again doesnt appeal much.

Just stick 'over' onto the end of the Ranger badge.

It probably won't help for me to confirm that, having driven it last year, the ex-Junkman/Meshking 4.6 is a very good one...

2009 Cannondale Quick CX - possibly broken
2003 Citroen Berlingo 2.0HDi - nearly broken
1995 Peugeot 205 Inca 1.7D - broken
1982 Citroen Dyane 6 - broken

AS Midland Massiv - in chod we rust...

I briefly flirted with the idea of a P38, but I was looking around the £800-1000 mark on the basis that it would inevitably go wrong and go wrong catastrophically, and at that price I could maybe make 50% back spares\repair.

It just seemed like the good ones at £2-3k were always 1 breakdown away from being an £800-er

I took a photo of the local P38 farm. There must be 30 or 40 of the things there! All being stripped and reduced down to bare shells. We suspect there isn't a licence for this, so it probably won't be around for long. Another farm a couple of miles away has a couple of them parked up, never moving.
