STUNO Posted June 2, 2009 Share Posted June 2, 2009 Just a few minutes ago..The First ad I have ever seen for Cadillac cars on the telly in NZ. The dealer was Ebbett Cadillac. Ebbett have been a GM dealer for at least 50 years , so they may have sold a Cadillac before, but very few are about. The price was similar to a Chrysler 300 but I did not get the full details. They then had 80 spare cars to get rid of. GM speak said "surplus to requirements"All are 2009 CTS 3.6 v6 with all the bells etc.Enter Ebbett.. they bought all 80 to NZ and have so far sold 14, for 22,000 pounds ea. instead of the retail price of 35,000.An EXPERT is saying "Don't buy an obscure make from a bankrupt company in the middle of a recession". Mind you, I hope the 3.6 V6 is better than the same unit I tried in a VZ Commodore a couple of years back, which felt bloody lethargic for the size. Plus they will make very few of the parts themselves - everything will be sourced from specialist companies, the only real in-house stuff will be trim and panels which are easy to copy.There's as many parts on shelves for Rovers are there are for Fords, going bust doesn't make cars unrepairable.
