... "I've left my phone on car roof!!" ... :(

oof! I parked in Tesco Coast rd. and reached down to handbrake slot (for phone) and realised it wasn't there... Sudden realisation I had taken it out of inside coat pocket, putting coat on back seat - at ASDA Metro centre - and BONGG < realization> placed it onto roof[/palm to forehead].

LUCKILY.... I have a flat boot/steel car/alligator jaw strength magnet flip clasp, on the case!!

Phone found stuck to bootlid :)

.... I feel ill ....

I did this a while ago when my brother-in-law was borrowing my 350Z tourer Espace. I offered to take him for a quick test drive round the block so he could get used to the gearbox. I park it in a layby opposite my house.

We had a look round the car, got in, took it round the block, all good. Got back, parked in layby, I got out and went into my house. He drove off up the road to turn round. At this point I realised I didn't have my phone. Fuck! It must still be in the Espace. I went out the front door and flagged him down as he was coming back up the road. He parked up (in the same layby again) and we searched the car. 5 minutes searching, no luck. So, obviously, we ring it using his phone.

Now we can hear the phone vibrating but can't sodding find it ANYWHERE in the car. We searched for another couple of minutes. That car has a LOT of cubby holes. Then I got out and walked round the other side of the car. There it is on the floor, half an inch from the wheel

In retrospect what happened was: I put it on the roof of the car before we set off. It slid off as we pulled away and fell on the floor. Then it somehow avoided getting run over as we drove in and out of the layby twice...

My old man once left his 90's Ericsson mobile phone on the roof of his Prelude before getting in, reversing back so it slid forwards off the roof and then summarily running it over as he pulled out of the parking space. The Ericsson was unfazed, proper tough old things.

The first mobile I owned was from Woolworths.   It fell out of my pocket into a drain while I was doing an oil change on my W123.   That was bad enough but it was rapidly followed by a limited edition Zippo from my shirt pocket as I peered into the murky depths to assess phone salvage.

I did retrieve both of them and still have the Zippo.   The phone solidered on for another five years after I had stripped it down and dis-infected it (it was one of those with a jelly type keyboard mould under the pad).
