Rave
I'm off later this evening to try and do a deal for RobT's Neighbour's overheating, MOT-less ST170. I need it shifted from Beckenham to Mottingham, which will be 6.8 miles according to Google Maps. Can anyone here help, or recommend someone who can? I've put it on Shiply and the cheapest quote is £64, which seems a lot for a 1 hour, 7 mile job, but if that's the going rate I guess I'll pay it- and might as well pay it to a trusted shiter rather than a shiply random. The car should drive on and off a beavertail (or trailer) as far as I know. Hoping to get it shifted Sunday afternoon/evening or on Monday. TIA! Edit: I have a Cat C license so could in theory rent a transporter and do it myself, but I can't find anything for less than £100 a day.
Arthur Foxhake
Seems a reasonable price. If I were an owner driver I'd want at least that. Dirk Diggler and Rave

Dirk Diggler
It'd cost €100-120 here; it's a good price
Pillock
I guess the job has a base price of covering insurance and stuff, and the cost per mile added on.Also whilst he's doing 7 miles in an hour he might be losing out on an all day £200 job. I hope you can line the pockets of a Shiter instead but I don't think you're being ripped off. Rave
bramz7
Ignore me if you have, but have you tried AnyVan? We used them to transport the Fiat Tempra currently sat outside from Hitchin and it cost £111, which isn't bad for the distance there and back. Might be worth a try. Rave
OK cheers guys, I accepted the quote as the guy seemed to agree that my schedule was workable, and I don't want to mess Rob's neighbour about, as we did the deal tonight and he seems a lovely chap. On any future occasion I'll shop around a bit more, though! RobT
