fotorabia
Ola..i did the recession flight off to Spain at the end of 1989..never to return to live in the UK.I ended up living in a small village outside Granada called Dilar.Lived with a German mate and relied on other Germans for the usage of their 240 diesel Mercs [MOT failures in their homeland]..later on were given a Seat 127...until someone in the village slashed our tyres and daubed a swastika on it..which we found strange considering we were bloody anarchists!Apologies for bad photo quality.Film development in Spain was as bad as their cognac.Ive got a film scanner now so this makes the best of the worst.I shot the first stuff on an old Ricoh KR5..moved to Germany..became a wealthy dishwasher..then returned for an anarchist holiday in 92 with a new Nikon.alfa 1300GT Jnr..i fell in love with this..pussy yard kill!shark DS standard German anarchist limoFascist portugese assembled Dodgeex secret police Dodge Dart..also portugese..locals hated these!central city yard Granadathis yard was great!fintail 108 with US spec headlightsdauphine..but wait..OMFG...a goddamn Gordini!garaged Dauphine with a minty Authi 1300mobility issues for local SMsunset for loads of lovely Euro shite! Gompo
Very good pics, thanks for the effortI generally cant stand 'arty' pics where the person taking the pics think it's really impressive taking a pic at an angle, or catching a car mirrored in anothers chrome etc.. however, these look great, especially it they're not meant to look arty! - as stated previously very atmospheric. fotorabia
thanks for the critiques...Sthrn Spain and Portugal was great for tat spotting in those days...germany was just a wee bit to clean..well...Munich was anyway..the East was littered with Trabis etc.. ok..sorry to be arty...but next images are my first student photos from Edinburgh in 1985..amazingly ive still got them...the day i went to this yard..there was a Escort RS1600 being crunched...it had been nicked and dumped in the yard..so matey arrived at work..and promptly squashed it with his crane... next ones were taken in Inverlochy nr Ft William in 91 on holiday back in my former Highland home...The Austin 16? hearse began its next life as a mobile grocery van..then ended up in a field in our village Strontian for many years... CortinaDave
Great pics... all typical scrapyard fodder in the mid 80's, but it makes me wince to see the mk3 cortina and mega rare magnum estate squished. Old scrapyard photos are always interesting. You have to remember though that when you were there it was the equivalent of a yard full of N reg Astras and Mondeos now.
